The court cases mentioned in Chapter 13 of Emerging from the Cocoon were actual cases.
In the Ohio case in 2000, a couple was raising their son as a girl after having the child see a therapist. They were convinced their child, aged 4-5, was transgendered and enrolled the child in kindergarten as a girl. The school reported them to child services, and the child was removed from their home and placed in foster care to be raised as a boy.
Later in the case, it was found that the father had some type of mental illness, which complicated things. It's the Aurora case if any of you are familiar with it. I never read anwhere whether they regained custody or lost their child forever.
In the Virginia case, a couple divorced while their son was wrestling with gender issues. The mother was forbidden to raise the boy as a girl by court oder, but retained custody.
The father didn't believe the mother would comply with the order and hired a private investigator, who videotaped the 12-year-old wearing a bikini at a friend's pool party. The judge in the case revoked custody from the mother.
Just thought those were worth mentioning.

Aurora
Aurora is still is foster care, according to a web search. Her parents are separated and have separate visitation but the authorities have determined that the child will be known as Zachary, is being subjected to coercive "therapies" designed to cure him of his illness, and God's in his heaven and all's right with the world.
How many small tragedies the world never sees...
