I get the point
And get the humour but what annoys me about it is this.
The regardless versus irregardless point.
The two words have a different meaning. Regardless means regardless of a single factor while irregardless covers all possible factors.
In the sentence 'despite the weather forecast I shall go to football tomorrow' the word 'despite' can be replaced with 'regardless of'. But if I say 'irregardless I shall go to football tomorrow' I am saying that nothing at all will stop me going,
So, by putting that one in there is not only just plain wrong but the author us suffering from the same vice they complain about.
