I have a job interview this afternoon. It's for a job I'm way overqualified for. Can't find anything in my field, and this doesn't even pay decently. Working though, is better than not working.
So far, everything I'm hearing from the recruiters is really positive.
Lately, it seems to me that my fortunes run like that old Hee Haw song. "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Gloom. Despair. Agony on me."
So please, wish me some good luck. I could use some.
I wanted to post this earlier, but couldn't. :(
I think the interview went well, but I'm not sure. I never am. I should hear yes or no tomorrow. So I'm hoping...
*** Thank you all so much for the well wishes! ***

Good luck ever and always!
I hope you get the job and parlay it into something worthy of you. It happens: I've done it. And after the holidays you can keep looking. Sometimes it's easier to find a job when you have one.
My best wishes go with you,
Toddy Bear
Best of luck to you
Hope the interview goes well, and best of luck in getting the job. You have it right, working is better than the alternative.

I hope the interveiwer does not focus too much on the over part.
I remember my father went through a period trying to find work where there was not much available at his level in his field, but a fair number available that he was "Over Qualified" for. The thing is they kept turning him down for that very reason. The problem was no one wanted to hire him because they felt "Over Qualified" meant ready to jump ship as something at his qualification level turned up. In other words they figured, "Why hire someone they are going to have to replace again shortly".
Good Luck!
I hope you don't end up falling in to that trap.

Having been thru that process...
...the most frustrating part of it all was trying to explain to the interviewer that I indeed was committed even as he was complaining about some of his less seasoned staff being uncommitted to the job even as they continued to work for the company (large retail hardware chain). No amount of experience, over-qualified or not, would convince him that I wasn't the person for the job, but folks with higher pay and bigger name tags seemed to have overruled his pleas; leaving me once again feeling less than useful.
For you, Erica, I wish you well and pray that your best presentation will persuade the folks in charge that you indeed are the right person for the job!
Love, Andrea Lena
