As we speed towards episode 2200 of Bike, do I detect people are getting bored with it? It seems comments are fewer than usual and even the kudos are a bit lower than I usually get - or am I being a little hypersensitive? Do readers want me to continue or has it had its day?

As for the number of transgender people in a single dwelling in Portsmouth, I was in a house with six others, which makes seven last week, so perhaps my storyline wasn't quite so preposterous as it may have first seemed, just a tad unusual.

As long as you keep writing,

As long as you keep writing, I'll keep reading. Everyday I can't wait for the evening to come so I can have my daily fix of bike.

I know I hardly comment on stories but I always try to press the kudos button.

Keep up the good work and I hope you don't get too bored of bike to stop writing it anytime soon.

Hugs,
Andrea

one of the 1st things i do in

one of the 1st things i do in the morning during the winter months is check for the next episode (downunder), alas in summer i have to wait till after 9am for the posting due to daylight savings time.

i rarely post comments, but always hit the kudos button, that said, as long as you write bike i shall be reading.

Amanda

What do YOU want to do?

I love reading this tome. If it is getting tiresome for you, then stop. It is your choice actually. I am sure that you have other tales in you.

Checkjing numbers

So I pulled up some numbers of your last 10 stories....

For 1200 words that's pretty good.

I post 6000 word chunks on unreachable and I haven't even hit your lowest kudo total. Some don't even do as good as I do. I looked back at some of the old Bikes and though some have over 120 kudos, most have the 80 to 90 range. You are par for the course.

I hope this makes up for missing any KUDOS>

There are several obvious reasons...

1. Path of Exile was released during last week (that's where I am spending my evenings :-) )
2. Several new game consoles were released or will be released about now.
3. New Call of Duty also was released in the last couple of days...

:-)

Look at the number of new stories in the last week compared to any other week in last year :-)
I'm not sure about causation, but correlation seems obvious...

P.S. And I have not got through last ~1000 of dormouse episodes as I got held up some time ago and still trying to catch up. Anyway, I usually read archives and usually I'm not logged on bcts, so I'm not giving cudos most of the time. You can add cudo from me to every chapter without goddes or blue light mentioned. And provisionary cudo for parts with Russian mafia in them :-) Russian mafia works differently and Cathy had no chance if they were interested on harming her or her relatives ;-)

I'm guessing you ...

already might know my views Angharad, Sufficient to say that whilst ever you write Bike i will always read it, Your characters are so well drawn, And the skillful way you incorporate a take on current affairs into the story is a joy to behold..

I for one would to thank you for giving up so much of your time to keep us all entertained, I think i speak for many when i say it is very much appreciated...

Bike

I read every one you put up don't comment that often though. And I'll keep reading if you want to keep writing them, but that is your choice if you want to end that is your choice! Please do an Epilogue of what you think happens in their future. Thanks Angharad for all the Bike you have gave us, It's been great if you decide to end it!

I found BCTS on the referral of several people to Bike. and have found a wonderful new home where i have learned so much, and found several great authors, and fantastic stories, but Bike is the first thing i look for every afternoon.

It's the Way I Start My Evening

littlerocksilver's picture

After the work day is over, a chapter of Bike and a glass of wine are just the right thing.

I look back on my story list and note that I never received more than 30 kudos for any story until the first chapter of St. George and the Dragon which received 32 kudos. This was after writing here for five years. Then I wrote Charli and the Girl Cave followed by Adam and the Three Wishes. Chapter 1 of Charli received 69 Kudos, and both stories continued to do very well. I was very pleasantly surprised. My more recent stories slipped considerably in the rating area; however, I obviously don't write for the masses.

It's all relative. A. your stories are located at a different level. Your kudos rates exceedes most writers here consistently. Don't let it worry you if it drops just a bit. Compared to those of us down here on the ground, you are stratospheric. Your delightful writing appeals to a much broader spectra of readers. You have an established readership, and you keep them happi;y sated. I have no problem with hitting the kudos button as I finish the last sentence. Your writing deserves it. Please continue.

Portia

I'll admit that I don't

I'll admit that I don't always remember to hit the kudo button on BIKE, and I don't frequently feel the need to comment on the episodes.

That said, I _do_ enjoy the story, and I do try to make sure you know on a regular basis.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Love your logo, Allison.

I particularly like the tandem (even though it is in danger of falling off the heart) and the well laden cycle camper just about to wizz downhill, mostly because they depict the cycling activities that have given us so much pleasure. However as a one-time enthusiastic trikie, particularly through the slippery winter months I think three wheelers should have a little cheer too.

Now why did I reply? Ah yes - Bike. That's an essential bit of reading just before I drag myself upstairs to bed. I'd have difficulty sleeping without it :)

And I Thought You Were A Smart Lady

joannebarbarella's picture

But here you are asking the silliest questions. If the series were mine I would be over the moon with the readership and the comments and the kudos. I have only ever had one story that got more kudos than what you receive every episode!

Still, in the end, it's up to you,

Joanne

My Reason

The length wasn't want caused me to stop reading it, I got sick of all the bad guys (mafia) you repeatedly threw at them. That being said, if everything was sunshiny you wouldn't have a story. But it was being a chore to read it, with stuff I didn't enjoy getting in the way of the stuff I enjoyed (the sweet sappy parts)

Note I am not asking you to change your story, just explaining why I quit reading it.

Bike is a special story, it's

Bike is a special story, it's probably the longest running story ever. It would be sorely missed by many people, the comments here prove that. You have to do whats best for you but I for one hope Bike continues.

Big hugs

Lizzie :)

More Bike? Yes!

I love Bike. Reading a new episode each evening is a high point of my day. As long as you derive some satisfaction from writing it, I'll be a loyal fan.

Kris

{I leave a trail of Kudos as I browse the site. Be careful where you step!}

I dunno...

I dunno about others, but my work/commuting between NJ & MI has interfered with my reading (online)... So many places block BCTS. :-(

So - unless I'm lucky, I tend to find myself playing "catchup" 2-3 episodes at a time... And, I end up commenting less often. (Anticipation of what's coming next leads me to click the next episode rather than the "add comment". Sorry about that.)

As to Kudos... I fear I'm a tad stingy there... I prefer to comment, to be honest.

And as to the story itself? Seems to me you've got quite a few difficult issues to resolve... :-) I enjoy much of your writing... But, it's a case of - if you're getting board with the saga... Finish it off. Otherwise, I suspect that as long as you write it, I'll read it.

Annette

More Please!

I eagerly await each day's episode. One of those kudos is mine, every time. I don't comment very often though.

If you decide to end this wonderful story,I will mourn its passing...

If you decide to continue, then you have quite a few utterly local add... I mean readers.

Either way, thanks for the wonderful ride you've given us so far!

Bored??

With Bike?
Never! I will read it as long as you write it and post it, which is, of course, entirely your decision.
I do try to leave a kudo for each session and a comment or two every couple of weeks, but my lack of comments should never be interpreted as me not loving Bike. I am just not good at comments, even vocally.
So, just continue writing about the wonderful Cameron family. and I will continue reading and loving the story.

Don't let someone else talk you out of your dreams. How can we have dreams come true, if we have no dreams?

What everyone has said

My day wouldn't be the same without bike.
I've just finished it for the 3rd time, just can't get enough.
Please continue till you feel that YOU, have had enough.
Huggs,
Glenda

Please continue

Having stayed in Gosport for about a week and missed the closeness to the Cameron family was just a blunder from me. It would have been interesting to se, perhaps not the real home, but at least the surroundings in the same way as I have visited some of Mady Bell's Stories, both in UK as in Germany. But I have to be satisfied with the literary description of family Cameron's area. It would be felt very hard to lose this contact with the fantastic family. During all the parts/episodes I have had to be away from my computer for some weeks while on vacation in other countries, But luckily the parts have been stored for me and all other that cannot be connected every day. So we all want you to keep on as long as possible. All the nice things have already been said about your mega-novel that I cannot find more or better words. We really want you to continue!

I really...

...must pick it up again. I think I'll need a few marathon sessions to catch up, especially as I've vowed to update the darned summaries for each episode I do read.

Needless to say, if anyone's daft enough to be re-reading old episodes (particularly around the 1300s-1800s) and doesn't mind writing a couple of sentences summarising what's happened in the episode they've just read, please let me know :)

As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

Love it Angharad

As long as you can keep going, I'll keep reading and enjoying. Thanks!

Keep on pedalling

Greetings Angharad

As long as you wish to write more chapters of the saga I will continue reading.

I don't often log in, but do check every day for new chapters.

Bike 2200

Angharad's picture

Given that one or two of you commented, I suspect you'd like me to continue with Bike a bit longer, assuming storylines continue come to my rather addled brain. Sadly, it looks like tonight's Bike might be delayed until tomorrow, not helped by fighting all afternoon with Excel trying to submit our club's annual report to HQ. After saving it, I couldn't then find it on my crappy laptop. Instead, I offer you a short story - Backfire. See what ya think (The photo's good anyway).
