In this case the mispronunciation defines the creature better:
pigeon (piggy/ON), the avian version of the roach. It is ubiquitous in every major city, especially their parks. It doesn't care if the statue is of G. Washington, Admiral Nelson, Joan d'Arc or some other important dignitary. This bird will drop something that will make the statue undignified. It eats everything, therefore a pig.
So may the Bird of Happiness not be directly overhead or you may be blessed in a way you don't wish to be.

Unless I am mstaken, those
birds have been used in pies and so forth by our British cousins. A great way to control them is via falcons, hawks, and other birds of prey as well as cats.
