A few weeks ago I posted a blog about my pussycat Madeline. I was almost doing it daily and didn't have the heart to keep on disappointing people day after day. For a month it looked like there was nothing left to do but to put her down. The medicine I was given didn't work and all she did was stay on the bed, immobile for hours on end unless I brought her to her food, which she barely touched.

I was all set to have the vet tell me that the most humane thing to do was to put her down. Even my roommate thought that, and he really pissed me off when he posted on facebook an ad to give her away to someone more adept at taking care of her. (Still pisses me off).

So I held off taking her to the vet as long as possible. But after a month I thought I was being cruel and selfish. After shedding a lot of tears it was time.

The vet took a look at her and did a lot of head shaking. I told her I wanted to do everything in my power to make sure my cat got better but I was a person of limited means. She said she would try to higher dose of steroids and would give her more powerful medicine.

GOOD NEWS!!!!

The therapy is beginning to work. MY cat is back to moving its legs and is almost walking again. She had a lot of athropy (not moving for a month does that). But she is making strides. I am so happy and relieved. It will probably take a while, but she is trying and doing better. She has to retrain herself how to walk on her paw pads instead of dragging her legs, but she is at least kicking those legs. So now everyone knows. Madeline will take any and all donations of catnip, chew toys, and treats.
