I've noticed that several people want to leave reviews for my work but are worried about being outed.

Here is how to do so anonymous:

Log onto Amazon:
Go to my account
Go all the way to the bottom where it says Personalization
Click your public profile
click edit your profile
here you can click edit name and put it what you want and change signature
leave reviews

you can change your name back. Amazon does not change the name under your previous reviews and won't change anything so your secret is safe.

Now leave those reviews!!! Please.

Up to 2k books given away.

I tried to leave a review

but Kindle keeps telling me I have to buy a book (not take a free book) before I can review stuff.

IIRC you do have to buy at

IIRC you do have to buy at least one item, and wait a day or two, before you can leave any reviews. I suppose that's to keep people from creating accounts for non-existent readers just to leave good reviews for themselves or friends. It helps with the credibility of the review process.

...One can buy a regular Visa, Mastercard, or other 'gift card' in any reasonable amount, then create a brand spanking new Amazon account using the gift card as your payment method. You can periodically add new credit to the gift card using whatever cryptic means one prefers and not only review anonymously, but even make purchases anonymously, your own private Wikileaks, if you tend toward extreme paranoia.

Amazon considers it bad form (and it's unsporting as well) if you use this trick to write yourself glowing reviews, which will quickly become apparent if the only commentator and reviewer for a particular author happens to be the same "Jane Doe," and Amazon *will* catch on eventually if your alias doesn't behave like a real customer, since they do track how customers behave, but still. Just as on BC, authors appreciate good reviews, which is anything with four or five stars.

Note: This trick will likely hold up against even the National Security Agency if:

A: You pay cash for the gift card;
B: You use "anonymous" accounts, as at some libraries, coffee shops, or Internet cafeterias;
C: Don't do anything illegal. The cybercops have their little ways to do almost anything if they become seriously concerned.
D: Caveat subscriptor.
