There's an interesting opinion piece in today's Independent:
Everything is about to change forever: My experience of gender dysphoria
Gender reassignment isn't something to take lightly, it is a necessity. And a life change I know I will be judged for.
Sophie has also started a blog to document her experiences, with seven entries to date.

But the Indy's website is utterly atrocious to log into, a dreadful system. I note the first nasty comments are starting to appear in the 'below the line' section.
Indy Voices
I'm still puzzled at why Independent Voices uses a completely separate login system to the rest of the Independent. For sites requiring a social networking login, I generally use Twitter as it's the only one which doesn't use my real name (OK, I'm not too bothered about people finding out, but I prefer to use "mittfh" as my online identity [FFS, I've been using it for 13 years - I'm sure more people know me as "mittfh" than know my by my real name!] - although I've noticed YouTube is now starting to beg me to use my real name). Added onto which, it's about the only commenting system I've found which doesn't even allow carriage returns.
Still, while two of the seventeen comments have been negative, the more offensive one was quickly shot down in flames supportive of Sophie.
Meanwhile, reading her article and her blog entires suggests that (totally unsurprisingly) her experiences are similar to many people here.
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

How I can remember those bits! And my boss... oh dear.
The log-in irritates me. I don't do social networking, as I do not trust it. I went onto Facebook following an invitation from some friends, and closed it within a week.
I for one wish Sophie
success and happiness in her journey.
