I wonder if these guys are "Skin Horse" fans?

Apparently there are people standing in four constituencies for the forthcoming UK General Election for the Cure (Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality) Party.

That sounds awfully Unity-ish...

Their website states "We believe that the exploitation of Zombies has to stop. They may be undead, but they’re still people too. For too long, British culture has misrepresented the undead: they are seen as violent, aggressive and disposable. We believe this is a fallacy: they are people too. And we’re campaigning for equal rights for the undead."

Their manifesto is:

* To give the undead equal rights to the living
* To make cemeteries more comfortable for its inhabitants
* To implement a robust social integreation programme for the undead, curing society of its prejudices
* To increase the minimum statutory retirement age to beyond death
* To permit the marriage of living and the undead

The BBC News article where I saw this also lists some of the other unusual parties standing - although the candidates will almost certainly lose their  £500 deposit by failing to secure a certain proportion of the vote (I think it's 5%).

I remember loonies ...

Some years ago in the UK there was a political party known as The Monster Raving Loony Party, they were the brainchild of Screaming Lord Sutch with the party's manifesto reading like an agenda designed by inmates of a mental institution.

The party still continues to this day and regularly fields candidates at elections.
