My daughter has finally had an MRI scan. The good news - she doesn't have MS. The bad news - she has a tumour on the top of her spine which is causing the symptoms of muscle weakness, loss of coordination, tremor etc. She's on the urgent list for surgery at the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff.
We have heavy snow forecast for tonight & tomorrow, so it looks as if I won't be able to get to see her this weekend.
Life's a bitch...

mixed blessings
its good that its not MS, fingers crossed the surgery sorts things out. Hope you can get to Welsh Wales soon, damned inconsiderate being ill so far from you!
We have snow forecast from the present (bout 4cm already) until Tuesday - yup no break hardly for 5 days and no temperature even close to plus C! But i suppose we do score a TdF stage next year so we can put up with a little discomfort.

Mixed blessing
Yes this is a mixed blessing in that she does not have MS but the tumor is a dangerous condition but treatable. Hoping for the best outcome for your daughter and your family.
Good news...
...I'll be praying and thinking of her and you and your family.
Love, Andrea Lena
Good news, and snow
The news about your daughter not having MS is great, and I agree it sucks being so far away from her, and with snow in the forecast....well, I know you will manage somehow, and please keep us posted on developements.
More spiritual hugs from a concerned fan.
Don't let someone else talk you out of your dreams. How can we have dreams come true, if we have no dreams?

Anghared, my heartfelt
prayers are with you, and your daughter
May Your Light Forever Shine
Sending you good thoughts
I hope the surgery works out well and the snow slows down so you can get there.
Your daughter.
I truly hope your daughter is curable Ang. You did not mention if the tumour is benign or malignant I seriously hope it's benign and fully curable.
All my hopes for her and you and her mother as well. Good luck and I hope the snow doesn't prevent you from seeing her soon. Sadly we are due for a real dumping tonight and tommorrow (Friday) but it hasn't started yet (2300 Thursday)
Good luck and many hugs.
Beverly.
Better news?
Hi,
I'm relieved to hear that your daughter does not have MS. However, a tumor on the spine is extremely serious. I assume there will be lots of tests and such to determine if its operable, and how treatment should proceed. Even though the weather is not cooperating, these are positive signs.
I'm sure that all of us are concerned for your daughter, and that our best wishes are with her. Unfortunately, none of us have any 'blue light' to offer her, but we would if we could.
Hang in there, girl. And, if it's snowing, go carefully or not at all. Those pretty, little hexagonal crystals are very slippery both underfoot and beneath tires.

I'll certainly be thinking
I'll certainly be thinking positive thoughts and sending them your way. Hopefully you will hear more good news, and the tumor will be one that can be treated successfully.

{I leave a trail of Kudos as I browse the site. Be careful where you step!}
Ouch
My heart goes out to you, Angharad. It's so hard to see your child go through things like that.
Best of luck with the operation!

Mixed news
Let's hope the tumour's benign, hasn't metastasised, and can be removed in one go. Unfortunately, much of Wales seems to be under a Met Office Red Warning for snow (20-30 cm [8-12 inches] of snow with strong southeasterly winds causing blizzards, severe drifting of lying snow and thus severe disruption), with the surrounding area being Amber (5-10, maybe 15cm [2-6 inches] falling within 3 to 6 hours).
Up here in Kenilworth we're on the edge of the Amber area, so we're likely to get a couple of inches tops, that might hang around all weekend. No doubt on Saturday (and possibly tomorrow) Abbey Fields (our local park, set in a shallow valley so there's almost no level ground) will be busy with children on their toboggans...
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
I do hope the get this sorted.
And that the Tumor is not malignant, as others have said. These things can be such a scare.

And that close to th spine radiation treatment is risky or impos
I wish her well on her surgery and that it was a slow growing and non-cancerous growth.
My mom died from ignoring an easily treated thyroid tumor until it had spread and to treat it would have killed her all the quicker.
Give her our love,
Anfd you have ours too.
If the blue light exists I hope it does for your child.

Be Positive
They found it!!! Now she is in the hands of experts who can investigate. Better that she faced the problem and found the cause. Many people ignore the problem. You just communicate and get there when you can and arrive safely as calm as you can.
She'll want a hug like you and much better that she knows you are there for her and care and better that you arrive safe and well. She wouldn't want to hear that were caught in a traffic accident or trapped in snowstorms.
We have some great medical staff in UK and many specialists with wonderful experience and high skills these days. Such things bring families close together and so your job as parent as difficult as it always was. Is it ever easy?
Keep her positive and take the cup half full approach.
I'm sure we all will provide our moral support to you since you reached out in frustration so here we all are.
Good luck for the journey and keep as positive as you can.
Hugs
Jules
Best wishes
Ang,
