This kind of thing makes me both sad and angry. Someone really ought to smack some sense into that Mary Ring bitch.

Well, I would say I that I
Well, I would say I that I would be surprised but I would be lying. A lot of military spouses, especially of higher rank officers, can be bitches. So yeah, it would be just like them to do this. It is a bit annoying but until the government gets rid of DOMA, Prop 8 and the like, that gives idjits some sort of stupid grounds to act like this. It's stupid but there you go.

Reading through the article, it looks like she's already going to get smacked a bit.
If the base commander _does_ meet with the spouse, that will grind the Spouses group's collective face into it. It shows.... not a lack of support, but that the base support is not clearly on the groups side.
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
Homophobia won't go away right away
I'm sorry to say that we will probably go through the same growing up process with homophobia in the same way that racism changed society in the 50's and 60's. Things have gotten better, but racism is still around. The difference is that we all know at least one person who does not fit into the nice neat niche called heterosexuality.
Things are going to get better for us, mainly because we are going to out live those around us who hate us. All we can do is accept them, even when they can't accept us and try to show them that our existence isn't a threat to them. I'm afraid that our children will be the ones who will be more accepting of our differences.
On The Positive Side...
Hey, NBC News is reporting it! With a supportive tone!
Think back 10, or even 5 years. I don't think a national broadcast news organization would have been quite so sympathetic in tone. Things certainly are improving in some quarters, I would say.
This civil rights battle is not over yet. With the Supreme Court taking the two same-sex marriage cases they're going to hear and rule on in the late spring, there's a serious chance this country might make a sudden burst of progress soon. (There's also a chance they could get set back 10 years, but I think one way or another, it's inevitable: full civil rights for sexual minorities are in our future. The only question about getting there is when, not if.)

Loki, too bad that
such things happen. And I agree with you

By the end of January this had been amended. It doesn't reflect well on us as reasonable complainers if we don't take note of a correction.
A tiny bit of better news to offset the ongoing load of crxp.
