Does anyone happen to know an endocrinologist that might be covered by UHC in the Columbus area, looking for a referral?

I don't have a primary care physician and i keep running into endocrinologists that require a referral from a primary care physician.

It depends on your UHC plan. Some require referrals, some don't. Check your plan to see whether you require referrals. If you do, you'll have to select a primary care physician FIRST. If you have a non-gatekeeper plan, then referrals are NOT necessary (from your PCP, but they should be required from your therapist).

Some Endos do require referrals anyway, from someone... TO explain why you're there. So, if your plan doesn't require one, but the Endo you picked does, your therapist's referral may be sufficient.

For a general endo - you should be able to find one through UHC's web site. I'm sure there are a number in the Columbus area. The difficult part, is finding one with HRT experience and/or willing to learn and provide necessary care.

But, you should be able to find one at myuhc.com. Log in, and you can go to the "Find a Doctor", then use the "Personalized Physician Search"... There, you'll Select "All Physician Specialties" at the bottom of the 1st column. That brings you to a screen where you can specify distance from your "location" and select a specialty. Endo's in the 3rd box.

P.S. If you find an endo willing, but uneducated, Several of us can provide you with contact info to our providers (with their agreement) so your endo can contact them and become educated.

Which Columbus? I found five in the US.

Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, Wisconsin, or Ohio? Those are the five I found with a fast Google look up.

I don't have an answer for any of them, but you need to be more specific.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

ive been calling all the numbers on the uhc endocrinologists.
Several have said they don't do it.
OSU is giving me the wrap around.

apparently the people that do it no longer work there, back to square one.
have to try tomorrow found a couple primary care physicians, but will have to call back tomorrow, they are closed for today.

Any Physician...

Any physician CAN.

The question is whether they will and/or are willing to. Odds are, most will not, at least without a lot of education. But, it doesn't hurt to ask, and if you have a GP willing, be prepared to provide contact and other info to an experienced practitioner who is willing to provide your GP with the info needed on HRT, labs, etc. to insure you have the care you need.
