Maybe because I like to listen to the directors commentary on DVDs (as well as watch Columbo in French -- but THAT's another story {Ah, une chose de plus, monsieur.}), I wanted to pass along some background on Like Brothers, Like Sisters.
The story grew out of a thread on another forum in which we were discussing trying on/ wearing/ the influence of your sisters clothes. For many this was their first touch with crossdressing. For some their was no sister. I the questioned if anyone had an older bother who crossdressed and he was an influence. No one did, it seems.
So I decided to create that world. Initially I thought it would be the typical little brother finds out big brother is a crossdresser and begins secretly dressing in big brother's panties etc. That is of course far too simplistic and for that matter quite unrealistic.
I then got to thinking about how my life would have been different if I had had a crossdressing older brother. So a lot of the story is based upon feelings that I had both at age 13 and age 15.
As I stated in a story comment, the first thing I have to say about this premise is that I will not stoop to having it become sexual thing in any way. Just as my crossdressing was extremely innocent, so it shall always be in any of my stories.
Initially I did not know what would happen with their parents. I did not want the story to be a bad parents to good parents story, or for that matter the brother's having some rescuing relative come along. Rather, I felt the brothers must survive life in their own way. Again, it is a bit of how I survived those years.
I honestly did not think that what has happened so far would happen. It just did. With Part 3 now filtering through my brain, a whole batch of new challenges arise for the boys. As with life, it won't be pleasant all the time, but there will be fun.
Oh -- it is based in the 1970s because that is when I was that age. I'm going to show extreme bias here, but crossdressing was so much more fun and exciting back then as opposed to today .... girls actually wore dresses! Sigh -- yes -- I'm an oldie but goodie and I was 13 in 1970. If I knew then what I know now!
And on the faith angle of the story. As I am a devout Catholic, this plays a large part in my life both today as it did then. It was my rock as storms blew all around me when I was 13. While I won't have this story be preachy, as I am relating stories based on the shards of the broken glass of my teenage years, I do have to relate the comfort I found there. I fully believe that God gave me the gift of crossdressing to be enjoyed in the same manner that some people can paint or play a violin. Therefore, I choose to always use the gift for good and moral purposes. That will probably come through with the continuing story of the brothers.
There will be at least 2 more parts.
