Something completely irrelevant but as it's from the lighter side of the news, fun nonetheless...

The residents of Dull (Scotland, population a few dozen) are hoping to become a "sister community" to the town of Boring (Oregon US, population 12,000). Due to the size differences they can't officially twin, but they're hoping that the partnership agreement could have benefits to the communities.

Needless to say the punny nature of the two towns' names has ensured the proposed deal gets media coverage... :)

A town named Droll...

A town named Droll would be mildly amused.

I used to drive by Boring a few times a year when I lived out near that edge of the world. I did stop in Drain and Weed (other Oregon towns) but somehow never worked up enough interest to stop in Boring.

Not forgetting...

...a certain village in Austria whose sign continually gets stolen by Anglophiles, because while its name is completely innocent in German, it means something completely different in English.

Meanwhile, you can visit Beer in Devon, and there's a New Invention about half way between Wolverhampton and Willenhall, as well as another in Shropshire. The Lake District has a Boot, while back down in Devon there's Westward Ho! (yes, including the exclamation - it's named after the novel by Charles Kingsley).

As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

There is a town in the UP of Michigan

And by UP I mean Upper Peninsula. The town is called Gay. There is a bar there, yes, the Gay bar. And for the longest time, they sold T-shirts that had a roll of cash on it and the phrase "I blew my wad in the Gay Bar."
