How do we define forward? Is it based on a long term goal? On a short term goal? What's the difference between lurching steps and smooth transitions? Why use terms like this?

For now, I'm defining forward as things that bring me closer to my transition. :-) I suspect (no, I know) that my mom might not use the same definintion... But then, no, that's food for another discussion. We're here to talk about Lurching Steps.

Lurching steps - are the ones taken by the buttler in the "Adams Family", Right? Oh... You think, not in this context. Hmm. Yes, you're probably right on that. But, what AM I talking about.

Well, what I'm talking about is that things ARE moving forward (after all - the time IS getting closer!), just it seems like not much happens for a week or so, then bang a bunch happens.

Now, where was I. Oh, yes. I told you that my current boss was awesomely supportive. I'm supposed to FINALLY get a chance to talk to his boss tomorrow evening. (He's been WAY to busy, and I've been traveling WAY too much! (In the past nine weeks, I spent six in Houston, TX and two in Austin, and NOW, I'm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! At least they let me go home on weekends.) But, with HR's (Human Resources) help, I'll be talking to him, finally. Meanwhile, the manager I came out to back in January (a peer of my boss) has gotten a promotion, so is in a better position to help. :-)

On the more personal front. I had to retain a Lawyer if I wanted to have a chance to get my name changed in time to transition on "schedule"... And, as of today - the "complaint" (that's the official name of the piece of paper I signed - that goes in front of the judge to start the process...) is signed and off to the lawyer... With even a little bit of luck, things will move forward "smoothly". Of course, who knows what bumps are likely to come along. *sighs* But, putting that signed document in the mail today felt good - like I was taking a big step.

Oh - how did the name get picked out? I came up with a bunch of first and middle names (the last name isn't changing, but I am getting rid of that pesky roman numeral!) - all of which I liked (and none of which were Annette - that's my pen name and I felt it best to separate the two.) But, I was having trouble narrowing things down to one. In pops my wife and kids. :-) They decided that I could have the same number of sylables they all do... So we all have nine syllables in our names (or, I will when all is said and done and the judge signs the order). :-) I like it that they decided to get involved with the naming thing. :-)

Now, I just have to straighten out the mess with my insurance (my insurance card doesn't list the prescription benefit, so... One of my meds couldn't be filled yesterday). *sighs* The plan DOES have Prescription benefits (even for my hormones) so, it's just a matter of time to get things fixed.
