There is a sadness that cannot be spoken when you are about to spend the first Christmas ever from the person who loved you from birth. We are separated by eternity and for every inch I shed another tear.

I am about to write a Christmas story, but how can I capture the joy a child feels on that day when it brings me such sorrow.

The good things

The person who you lost is always going to be with you, your memories of the good times will far outlast the memories of the bad. Dwell on the happiness that person brought to you and then give it to you character. Then you have that goodness in writings you can revel in.

Losing a loved one

In 1963 I lost my dad just after my 13th birthday. I have days where I still lament the loss of my dad but I have those memories of the good things we did. My dad knew I was born intersexed and still he treated me with love and careing humanity. he knew I was different but off we would go into the woods to squirrel hunt, pheasant hunt or even go fishing.
he stood by me when I was a boy scout. Instead of beating me he would talk to me and then let me know how long I was grounded for.
I still miss him as if he was just here, it does get better, my memories of him are stll as fresh as the were 48 years ago.
I can empathize with you and feel your sorrow.
