Can it possibly be four (4) years ago that I signed up for an account here - so I could start posting my first story (Who Was I - and before any of you go look - it's filled with typos and other related errors). I thank the two ladies who convinced me to start writing and then start posting here. (I promised one that I wouldn't start posting anything I wasn't going to finish, and so far I've kept that even though posting on the Hidden Gifts has been VERY slow this past year or so... There may be a winter president "soon" if the editors can pretend they don't have lives. LOL)
My how the time has passed. I've discovered I really enjoy telling stories and writing (okay, typing stories. I don't tend to do much long-hand writing, if I'm being completely honest, except when sending snail mail.). I believe I've gotten better at writing over the years (Couldn't get much worse! LOL). I've "met" (or at least interacted with electronically) many people, and my life has been enriched by ALL of them whether they know it or not.
But, seriously? Can I have had a log in for four (4) years? That means I've been visiting for almost four and a half (4 1/2) years! Wow. (In that time, I've watched Bike go from single digit episode numbers over 1500...)
I've gone from being a person who feared she'd forever be stuck where she was - with health slowly deteriorating - to someone who's ever so much happier, with an immediate family and several friends, who know her and are supporting her moves toward a Summer '12 transition.
All I can say is Thank you all, and a special thanks to Erin for making (& keeping) this place available.
Thank you,
Anne

Time
About three years for me, I think, and that moment when I decided to jump over the edge and post a story...addictive, just as you say! This is a place that I feel saved, in many ways, my sanity. just like you, I needed a place to release things, and it became somewhere to discuss things, and then somewhere to share, and bond, and...you know the rest,
Like you, I lurked for ages before registering. Like you, 'Bike' caught my eye, back when it was an edgy story about a girl who wanted, hoped, needed to become who she had always been.*
And as you say, thank you Erin et al.
*'Bike' was exactly that, in its early days, in my opinion. It is now something different. Not better, nor worse, just a tale that we hope will continue to entrap and delight for ages to come.
Four years
I think it was also about this time four years ago that I first found this site. Then it took still some more months till I created an account.
But during all this time I enjoyed reading every word you wrote for "Hidden Gifts"! (and also The Reluctant Bridesmaid)
Martina
I'd like to think it was some of my posts that you read...
...but it probably wasn't. Still, I have read and enjoyed your stories (Hidden Gifts and Reluctant Bridesmaid are two of my all time favorite stories). You're right-it is very pleasant to read nice comments on stuff I wrote when I began here. I sometimes feel embarrassed that I wrote so poorly, but surprisingly, people actually LIKED it!
It is nice to feel talented, at least for a while!
