I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas
I've always loved the gowns worn at the end of that movie, its always been my favorite movie. However I may be guilty of reading too much stuff on this website....
Bob Wallace and Phil Davis are trying to get the girls to leave. Saying they will cover their escape. Betty questions what they are going to do and they respond with their half baked plan to imitate the hanes sisters act. The girls stop saying they do not want to be made a mockery of. The scene blacks out as Betty says "these dresses actually have a bit of stretch to them."
Ladies and Gentleman. The Hanes Sisters. There is the blue peacock feathers as before and the same dresses are viewable. This time however the guys look very much like girls. Both of them are wearing very convincing wigs and they both look very pretty as girls. After the Act while still in those dresses they are interrogated by the sheriff. Bob is now Introduced as Barb Davis and Phil is Phillis Wallace. They are escorted to the train by the sheriff and treated like ladies the whole time. The sheriff asks for them to get their famous brothers autographs. Now there is two cute guys who overhear this and escort both girls. Phillis just looks at Barb and holds her arm. It is just getting to the good part when I wake up sadly.
It is a good idea for a story for christmas so ill think about it.

A bit of a stretch for the
A bit of a stretch for the characters perhaps, but still a pretty cute idea. For the second time you picked on of my favorite movies. Watching White Christmas is a big holiday tradition in my family. Between Thanksgiving and New Years, my mom, brother, sisters, and I must watch it together 4 o 5 times every year.

To give you an idea of how creative an imagination I have in the span of like 10 mins I have a new one..
Three female forms materialize on the transporter pad. They are notably missing clothing. One is a vulcan female the other two are human. The two human females look at each other with alarm.
"Scotty" speaks the light brown haired woman.
"Aye lass"
"Up here Scotty."
"Tis not as interesting m'lady."
"Dammit Jim he isn't getting it."
"Relax Bones its probably just a minor transporter malfunction."
"Fascinating" mutters the Vulcan female.

That demands to be fleshed out as a fanfic tels. Do it. Now.

I love the 1890's
I have some historical pictures of that era that were taken here in Portland, Oregon. In some of them, the women can be plainly seen wearing what was called walking suits; A line skirts that were to the ankles, with short jackets, and very proper hats. People just do not realise that in some segments of American society up until the 1950's, women did not appear in public in pants. The proper woman usually wore a hat or scarf also.
I think that the head gear originated as protection for the hair from the elements, and later became de rigueur for proper ladies.

you are correct. The bonnets started as something to keep ash and dust out of their hair from the trains, most people do not realize those old steam locomotives produced clouds of ash that rained on the passengers. It just became fashion to wear one after as well.
Crossdressing has been an issue since Queen Elizabeth the first. Ie pants on women and womens fashion on men. The rumor i heard is that Elizabeth was upset that some men were more "pretty" than herself and thus made a royal decree about it.
hmmm *lightbulb*.....
"Thomas what are you wearing?"
"What do you mean mom?"
"Take those pants off before your father comes home. You have plenty of pretty dresses to wear."
"But MOM."
"No buts young man. Only women may wear pants! Now go change."
Thomas sulkily makes his way upstairs to his room and changes out of his pants and hides them away in his stash.
Why did that bitch Queen Elizabeth decree men can only wear dresses. Its not fair. Women have it so easy they can wear pants and do whatever they want. We men have to be pretty and delicate all the time its soo annoying. Darn I have to shave my legs again. I hope we can afford that hair removal treatment soon as I hate shaving.

Hmmm, I can't remember reading a story like that, bu I'm pretty sure that alternate future story switching masculine and feminine roles somewhere around the Elizabethan / Victorian era has been done somewhere. If you feel up to it though, feel free to continue this into a short story if you like. I'm sure it would get a number of reads.
