Nothing serious but it had to happen didn't it.
Friday 29th May 2011; that evening 1830 out dressed in my van with Mandy Mae my best friend. That's how I was dressed.
Sitting in traffic queue when the car in my left hand lane starts off. I look casually at the traffic light and without taking too much notice I see he's got a green light so I start forward as well. Then as I look ahead, I realise the left hand lane has a filter light not a full traffic light and I realise my lane still has red. Foot hard on brakes but I just touch the little Ford fiesta in front. Fortunately, no damage done but of course I have to get out in the middle of the traffic to check out my transit van and her car. The lady driver gets out while her angry male friend gets out of the passenger seat and checks their little girl in the rear baby seat. I'm full of apologies but a detailed inspection of the car reveals no damage to their car or mine. The lady driver and I exchange names, addresses and insurance companies anyway. I take a series of mobile phone photos of the car and we part amicably with me still full of apologies. Indeed we parted so amicably that she complimented me on my frock.
Ah well, it's got to happen some time, better sooner than later.
I'm now waiting for the inevitable lawyers ambulance chasing on behalf of the family but no police were called, or ambulance or any other authorities and both cars drove away.
Just have to wait and see.

Maybe the accident won't happen
Hi Beverly,
Since today is May 4, 2011 you could still avoid having that accident by being extra careful on May 29th???
I guess you meant APRIL 29? and this was just a May foolery thing?? Thanks for the update.

I hope nothing
comes of this - it might well not as no one was injured.

You can bet your bottom dollar.
When these accident lawyers trace the claim through the insurance records you can bet your bottom dollar that they'll contact the family and the usual 'whip-lash' bullshit will ensue. This 'Ambulance Chasers for you' stuff has got out of hand , that's why insurance premiums are going sky high.
I was involved in another accident in June last year but that one was entirely the other poor guy's fault. (His bonnet flew up and he lost it on the M4 at 70 mph.) He swerved accross the motorway and hit me in the slow lane.
I'm still getting phonecalls from 'Ambulance chasers for u' even now asking if I want to claim.
It's got absolutely ridiculous and it demonstrates what happens when lawyers make the laws.

Indeed
Nothing should. But what better boost to being comfortable as yourself than being settled in a crisis?
Delayed reaction
It's surprising, but there may be a delayed reaction to even such a slight-seeming tap from behind, so watch out.
My van got rear-ended at a set of lights, a somewhat similar scenario to yours a few years back. We did all the same things, exchanged details, took pictures, departed (no, I was not wearing a frock, and neither was the other guy!).
It was only the following day, as I reported for work, that I realised my neck hurt like crazy. I immediately went home and got to see my doctor. Long story short, physiotherapy, both NHS and private, and once-a-week massages for nearly a year. My insurance company put me in touch with a personal injury firm and I got all the costs back.
That was six years ago. I still get the odd twinge in my neck, left side. Not my worst accident, I wrote off a van a week previous, wrote off another four weeks later, both times not a single scratch! The simple shunt in between still comes back to haunt me. It was then I wondered whether the Universe was trying to tell me something.

This was the first van write-off!
I'll bet
I'll bet you wet your knickers when you met that coming down the lane!! After 3 shunts in a couple of months I'm wondering if you kept your job.
Does this have anything to do with the 'Big Bang' theory?
