Just an FYI for you all, I have been quite sick the last two weeks and haven't done any writing more than a few paragraphs at a shot the whole time, so once I post Sunday's episode of 300 Rains I will probably take another break like I did in November, more for recuperating than anything else. I am sorry for this disruption to the release schedule but it was unavoidable. If I can't write or really edit it becomes difficult to keep supplying you with the adventures of Melanie in the Academic Jungle. Give me some time and I will catch up with things.
In other news, if you find another way to vote for my daughter in her essay contest, please do. She is about 250 votes away from making it to the final round so any help you can manage would be helpful. Apparently you can vote different times with different net programs, ie once for Firefox, once for IE, once for Chrome...etc. So thank you all again for your help and here is hoping the Katie makes it to the top ten.

Voting
Actually, it's not a matter of using different web browsers -- it's just a matter of clearing the cookies. The site uses a cookie to figure out if you have already voted, so if you clear the cookies and restart the browser, it will allow you to vote again.
However, if the people running the site have any level of technical sophistication, they might figure out that there's something suspicious about multiple votes coming from the same IP. OK, it *might* be a lot of votes coming from a network behind a single Internet connection... but it's still suspicious. As long as the number of votes per IP is low, it shouldn't raise red flags.
So, four or five votes are probably OK. One or two hundred are probably NOT OK.
feel better soon
take your time to recover. We'll only bug you on days ending in "y" when the next installment is due (just kidding)
