First, thank you to all who responded to my earlier blog. Not only were there far more well-wishers than I expected, there were some from people I never would have expected. (There were also a couple of people who were notable by their absence, but that's all I'll say about that.)
Anyway, after some rescheduling due to equipment malfunctions I finally got the tests run yesterday, and I did not luck out. So in the very near future I will be having at least a triple bypass. I'll be headed back south to get the best surgery I can, I'm hoping for the minimally-invasive or robotic surgery, which eliminates having to crack the chest open and shortens the recovery time. I have a consult with a heart surgeon thursday and hope to learn more about what is possible then.
Pray, good luck wishes, etc. are all appreciated.

My Mother's Bypass
My mother's Triple bypass was done by a procedure called a Port. They go in through the side under the armpits and avoided cracking the sternum. The only drawback was the band on her bra would irritate the incision site, but she actually healed faster than doing it the traditional way. Hopefully, they can do yours that way.

Been there, done that.
In 2004 I had a 'quintuple' bypass, a composite valve replacement, and an external stent on my descending aorta. They gave me a zipper between my breasts. Yes, it hurt, yes it took a long time to heal... several weeks, BUT... I am still here, and am active in all the things I used to do.
The biggest thing is to be 'active' after the fact. Don't listen to those who tell you that you have to stop doing the things you love. If you feel like doing something... do it. The neighsayers will get you depressed, and that is the worst thing that could happen. Be sure that you have friends or family around you to needle you into being active.

my father had a triple or more a while before he retired. He had a zipper up his chest that healed quickly and cleanly. He slowed down a bit but went on like normal after healing. Give 'em hell kid, and don't let it get you down. Its not fun, but definitely not the end of doing what you want/need.

I am reminded of a story of faith in a similar situation. A patient was scheduled for open heart surgery and the surgeon was visiting with the patient the eve of the event.
"You don't seem troubled about what will happen tomorrow," the surgeon stated. "Aren't you concerned? Most people are."
"Well, Doc," the guy said, "I figger it this way. If God wants me in heaven, there's nothin' either one of us can do about it.
"An' if'n He don't, you can't kill me! So, it's good either way."

I have been remiss in coing to the site and as i saw the blogs I felt I needed to let you know you'll be in my prayers.
I lost my dad to a cardiac infarction when I was 13, Well before the artificial heart was created.
so any time I see someone preparting to have heart surger i pray hard for them to recover.
