Today we say goodbye to Hazel, my aunt and godmother. It's going to be tough on me, so I don't know what sort of state I shall be in later and therefore can't comment on whether or not I'll be able to do the next episode of Bike.
Apologies for last night, but I went to pay my personal respects and it took quite a lot out of me. Today, I am next of kin and presumably leading the mourning. I'm presenting a celebration of Hazel's life which I hope won't be too depressing, after all she had a wicked sense of humour and very dirty laugh. I shall try and remember both in the days ahead.

never easy
Having been there not too long ago I have an idea how you feel. I think you just have to let the emotions go where they will, dealing with the good and the not so, memories. It's always a mix I think. Always liked the wake idea myself, sort of sad and joyous at the same time. Not a celebration exactly but a laughing, wet eyed, groaning look at a life hopefully well lived. Then a toast to whatever there is or might be after... Take care Ang.

My condolences
This can't be easy. Having recently said goodbye to someone myself, I know how difficult it can be.
I'm sure the others here will join me and those who have already commented, in offering our condolences and virtual hugs. I know how nice they can be when you need them.

I said that before. Anyone who cannot understand that has no understanding in them.

An awful experience ...
... in both meanings of the word. We can be full of awe when remembering the lives of those we've lost and appreciative that we are not alone in our awe. Funerals are truly awful in the more usual meaning but they're also celebrations of the lives of those we've loved and been loved by. Just remember the dirty laugh.
Take all the time you need. You're in my thoughts and, I know, in the thoughts of everyone here. And of course apologies from you are not needed.

I never know...
I never know what to say when others have such losses. Whatever it is is likely to be the wrong thing. So, I'll try to just support by my "virtual" presence.
May your day and future days be filled with good memories of her. May you find ways to deal with your loss that are helpful (& from what you've said) to you.

Just Take Your Time
Just take your time and when you are ready to get back to posting Bike we will still be here. You have a lot of people who love you and care for you here. It is always difficult to say goodbye to someone you love and you are in our thoughts during this difficult time.
