I have decided that as there doesn't appear to be overmuch interest in reading the 'new version' of the story, I will discontinue amending the story for now. I have therefore put the remainder of the original stories back up.
I might return to it later, but as I want to clear the decks as it were for Football Girl Book 2 and other future stories.
Many thanks for the people who did comment.

Not interested? I beg to differ!
Here are the facts - of first three of reposted chapters, there is an average of 6 kudos per chapter. Meaning six people decided to backtrack and kudo them.
Of chapters 4 and 5, that were posted after kudos were introduced, we get 36 and 33 kudos correspondingly. Which gives another 25-30 people reading them, AND kudoing them.
Also, there may be a number of people who simply don't kudo even if they liked the story.
And, while I don't know how many of those are from previously visiting readers, the number of reads is no less than 1700 with average going up to 3000 and maybe more for each of the five chapters. I'd say it's a success. :)

I liked "Home Alone".
I can understand your general reluctance to re-engage with a story already written. Still, I was reading it and found it quite interesting.
I have watched several Authors develop in my time on this page, and I have seen you grow into a truly fine wordsmyth. You write it and I will likely read it. :)

Definitely interested!
I was following it eagerly, and will continue to do so if you decide to resume working on it.
Thank you for the revised chapters so far, and I do hope you will reconsider at some point.
Not interested?
I made a decision a while back. I don't bother reading stories until they are finished. I enjoy reading and will read almost anything that doesn't set off my internal censors...but I get so frustrated with episodic writing.
When the story is finished I go back and read the whole thing.
I find chaptered stories posted 1 chapter at a time to be so frustrating specially when the chapters barely have any content at all. However when the story is complete I jump right in and read through to the end.
The only exception to the rule seems to be people who write chapters in the 100k byte region... then there is enough substance to keep me interested.
So remember to put 'final chapter' or some such identifier for those of us waiting for the story to be complete.

Hi Nobody,
You will see from all of my completed stories that I always put 'final chapter' when the story is completed.
Home Alone is a completed story, it was just that I did some re-writing of earlier chapters.

Home Alone - Now the Director's Cut
I read the original. But this one feels like the director's cut of the series. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I truly hope that you continue it to the very end.
Hell, it worked for Ridley Scott
...why not Sue Brown! Great idea! Keep going, Sue. If your first version was great, imagine how much better the revised one will be once finished.!

I've enjoyed the revised Home Alone
Sue,
I've enjoyed reading the revised chapters of Home Alone, just like I do all your work.
But of course I understand if you'd rather move on to work on something new.

Aww, I was enjoying reading
Aww, I was enjoying reading Home Alone again! :( Oh, well, at least you're putting your attention to Football Girl again! :) And I can re-read the old version. Still, I'll gladly read it whenever you get back to revising it.
