work isssues

Well, I went to work at Midnight Friday for the Sat shift, and the boss informed me the company had hired two new peple to work with us. We had been working 12 hour shifts on the weekends for coverage without driving people into overtime stats, and we were getting along just fine. Then the company decided (the lady in charge of the area office) that she didn't like the 12 hour shifts, and she hired a thrid body and cut us to 8 hours. That meant myself and the other guy were only getting 16 hours a week....not enough for either of us. The other guy decided he had to have more hours and wound up quitting. So the company hired another guy and kept us on the 8 hour shits. The first new hire was not doing the job, as problems I kept finding after he worked kept surfacing. He wound up quitting instead of accepting a counciling session, so we bounced back to 12 hour shifts for the last three weeks. Then the other new guy turned in his notice cause he found a job that paid three bucks an hour more (can't blame him for that). So now they have hired two newbies and are going to keep us on 8 hours shifts again, so I will be looking for a job also, instead of staying here. After all that, this is what the blog is about. The boss told me they had hired an "it" as one of the newbies. I enquired what he meant and he let me know one is in the process of changing into a woman. So I gently worked a reminder in that he could not discriminate against her, and really needed to watch and be careful of any references. Like me, he is in his late 50's, but doesn't seem to be very tolerent. So while I am still around, I will try to "control" his actions, as I am basically "second in charge", although I am only a part timer. This also means I will get to meet her, and maybe help things along, and help smooth things around with her. The boss already let me know, the office staff her is not impressed with either of the new hires, and neither is he. (We are doing contract security, and they have only done one training shift each, one on midnights, and one on evenings, so I wonder how much they had to impress anyway.) This might be interesting.
