I've finally managed to get a letter about women's cycling in the Guardian; sadly it's not in a place accessible from the internet (being in letters and emails in the sport section)it was accompanied by a picture of Bradley Wiggins.

It is scandalous that British Cycling aren't building a team around Nicole Cooke. Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with the men's TeamSky attempt to win the Tour de France, it's unlikely to happen with Bradley Wiggins. However, Nicole Cooke has won all there is to win in women's cycling and is still young enough to defend her Olympic title and possibly win another World title with the right sort of support. But then, Beryl Burton before her was never given the recognition she deserved - is this just because they're women?

I just logged in to send you an IM to congratulate you on the letter I read about an hour ago but you've blown your own trumpet and beaten me to it. If it had appeared on any other day I'd have read it over breakfast but Wednesday is old folks bike ride day and dawdling over the Guardian isn't allowed. As it is I'm knackered after 55 hard miles - this icy Winter has done little for my fitness (or weight!).
Funnily enough my only success on the Guardian letters page was on a cycling subject. That was 20 years ago - I hope you don't have to wait so long for another, even if you have to change your name to Keith Flett LOL

the Grande Boucle Feminine and La Fleche Wallonne Feminine, the Women's World cup series, the World Road Race Championship and is current Olympic Champion. Her palmares is amazing - see attached.

Angharad ap Gwilym? Isn't ap the masculine patronymic? Shouldn't it be Angharad fertch Gwilym, using the feminine patronymic? Admittedly, my Cymraeg knowledge is more medieval than current. Or is it a patronymic that's become frozen as a family name at some point in the past, and your family uses "ap Gwilym" across generations, even when Gwilym isn't your fathers name?
