I want to post this ahead of Chapter 3. It is a VERY emotional chapter, and it might make you angry, it might make you cry. This is the most emotion I have EVER felt, in any story I've ever written. I had to stop typing several times because of tears. Chapter 4 will follow, Sunday morning and, barring complications, it will be the final chapter in this story. THis story is dark, for a reason.
When I started The Home That Love Built universe, I wanted the stories to be as close to reality as is possible in fiction writing. Well, reality isn't always pretty, and neither is this story. It's ugly and I wouldn't write it at all, except for something that seems to be 'forcing' me to write it.
I apologize for any emotional upheaval anyone experiences after reading it...or maybe I'm just too emotional myself and this story isn't that dark. You decide.

Well, no-one can say you didn't warn us :)
We've already been given clues in the story as to what happened by the injuries Sara received - so presumably in Chapter 3 she recovers enough to explain what happened. I'm guessing the clothes she was wearing may have been her only outfit, and she may have been running away from home when she jumped out of the proverbial frying pan into the fire.
But, regardless of how dark it gets, we know there's likely to be a light at the end of the tunnel when she's recovered enough to move into THTLB.
