Sometimes I do get carried away; I get involved in something and I focus on it and just zone everything else out. It can be a good thing, especially when you have something that needs to get done.
So I've been writing, a lot, and as I sit here at 6:30 AM on Wednesday I realize I have been up since about 4:00 PM ...
On Friday ...
It's not insomnia, I could have gone to sleep, I just didn't. I distinctly remember feeling very sleepy several times. But I was focused and I pushed on through and pretty soon, I was just as chipper as can be. Even now, realizing I have been awake for ... OVER 110 HOURS! ... I don't actually feel sleepy. Oh well, I'm fairly certain that I will be asleep within minutes of putting my head on the pillow.
So here I go ...
Off to bed ...
Why am I still here?
Okay for real, good night all; I should be back in about 12 hours ... maybe 14.
Oh hell, I just realized today is trash day. Can't take the trash out until my friends get up for work.
I can make it another hour and a half ... easy ...

Uh-huh...
I'm willing to bet that the last pages you wrote will need a lot more editing than the first pages...
If they even make sense after you get some sleep and re-read them...
Poor Sleep Patterns
Poor sleep patterns got me where I am today - Fibromyalgia, no job, very little money and no energy to do most of the jobs that need doing about the house.
In my case it was a long established disease that I coped with, for the most part. Then I did four years as a courier, driving all over the UK sometimes at bizarre hours (medical callout) and often 80 hours a week. That trashed my body systems to the point where my sleep processes disintegrated completely.
Fortunately, sitting in front of a terminal writing stuff for folk like us is doable, but I still must have a nap sometime once a day, or suffer for it.
Learn to control your need to write. If you make yourself stop, eat, wash, sleep, etc you will discover that your subconscious will spend the time generating the dialog for the next time you log in. The quality of your work will be so much better you'll wonder how you managed before.
