I only saw Danny in person once when he appeared, as he so often did, as one of the ugly sisters in a pantomime Cinderella. My excuse to visit was to to treat my very much younger half-siblings but in reality I wanted to experience his glamorous 'Ugly Sister' for myself. He didn't disappoint.

I remember some years ago he threatened in his words to 'Hang up my tits and retire.' but he seemed to carry on carrying on. I think he appeared in the original 'Soldiers in Skirts' shows I recall from my extreme youth and was never able to attend despite aching to see for myself.

A bit early to die, perhaps, but seemingly a full life doing what he wanted and providing good clean(ish) entertainment for all. I salute his memory.
