Last year, about September, I was sent to the Emergency Rom {A&E} because I had mowed the lawn while wearing shorts, not my usual sweat pants. I set up a staph infection that demanded attention. The doctor drained my leg and removed dead tissue, then after a week, set me home.
The Home Care Nurses then came by to tend the leg. They'd change the wrappings and make sure that the leg was healing. Soon after, I was put on a wound vac pump to collect the drainage from the one draining wound.
After a while, I was sent to therapy where my leg was once again wrapped, but THIS time, the wraping was to reduce the swelling due to poor circulation.
NOW I am wearing caramel colored compression hose that's a few grades above Sheer Energy Pantyhose. I go back this Friday so the therapists can see how my legs are doing. personally, I say that mine are better than Joe Namath's, and he was PAID to wear pantyhose by L'eggs.

Support hose...
Why do they make them such a yucky color, anyhow?
I lucked out. My first set were black. I remembered to specify black for my second set, but they said that they had changed suppliers. I got black anyhow, but they were open in the toes.
They look so...... medical.
They do work, though. I now have great legs, too -- though they're still hairy. LOL

Oh, ick, ick, ick!
Fluids and draining, Brrrrrr! I can't even watch ER, 'cause I might see some blood!
Did the lawnmower fling some debris into your unprotected leg breaking the skin, causing an infection, or was it something germy that just stuck to your skin and caused an infection.
I have a rear bagger lawnmower, so if I were to leave the bag off I could really get blasted! I wear full protective gear when operating that monster.
