Ballet for me has never been about the clothes for me. I love being graceful, trying to create something beautiful....
That is until Nutcracker week. Wow! The ladies dresses are amazing, as are the costumes, the tutus, the tiaras...you know the kind of things I would have wanted to wear when I was anywhere from 8-years-old on up.
Then of course, there's the way they made the ladies' hair up. They also get the pearls and the long gloves.
Then there is the make up, talk about glamourous. The ladies, the girls, they're all dolled up so beautifully, it's amazing.
Even the men do get in the act, somewhat. There is of course, the one travesty role, the ugly made up with the large dress, mother Ginger...lol
But I found out last year and even appreciated this year, that even for the men in the most macho of roles, there is stage makeup....which includes not only base, but lipstick, rouge, eyeliner and eyeshadow....which means you can get dolled up (sort of) without anybody thinking anything about it.
It was almost enough for me to sing...I feel pretty, I feel pretty...lol Almost, but not quite...lol
Yes, I still have Nutcracker withdrawal. I miss everything about it, the performing, the friends, the costumes...everything about it.
It's magical and it's been over for two weeks...lol
