Contests:
Just as a reminder for folks, today is the last day for entries to go up in the 2023 "Abducted!" story contest! I'd originally intended to give people 'til midnight their own time zone and go on trust, but for simplicity's sake I've been asked to move that to midnight PDT (or, just under 16 hours from the time this blog will post.)
Voting will begin on the 25th, most likely via a poll on Patreon.
At this time, the prize pool is as follows:
1st place: Two (2) DopplerPress books of your choice, plus a piece of artwork by me (to be redeemed when we get the rest of my things out to California.)
Runners up: The next two most highly-voted stories will each receive one (1) DopplerPress book of their choice.
In addition to THAT announcement, I'm also pleased to tell everyone about our story event for April!
Concept: It's Take Your Daughter To Work Day! What (miss) adventures can your protagonist get up to? Are they the parent of a trans child, or trans themselves? Or the child in question? or something even wackier?
Story length: Any, single or multi-part stories welcome.
Rules: Stories must include at least one trans character in a major role. Contestants may enter any number of stories they desire into the challenge. Stories must be original pieces written for the challenge and, if fanfic or a spinoff of another series, should be able to stand on their own.
Deadline: April 30th.
Please note that April is a story CHALLENGE, not a CONTEST. As such, there will be no prizes offered nor voting taking place. Have fun and go wild, and I'll be looking forward to what people come up with!
A big thanks to everyone who's already entered the March contest (and those still waiting to post!) I've loved seeing the fantastic response the prompt has gotten.

Do We
Need monthly challenges/contests? Really need? I think quarterly would work as well. That would give people a chance to put more time and polish into their efforts. I admit, while I've done a few spur of the moment stories, it generally takes me months to get a story done, at least one I'd be proud to put my name on.
Now, strangely enough, I just had an idea for the current contest, which would take me at least a month if not longer (much longer!) to write; so I'll throw it out to anybody that wants to give it a stab. Somebody/something/magic/aliens abducts Putin and turns him into a girly-girl simpering sissy!

Well, the contests are there for fun more than anything.
So if they inspire an idea in you, then write it even if you don't make it in on time for prizes/deadlines!
The point of us tossing out the contests and challenges is to inspire people, and inspire community participation. They really aren't about the prizes or the technical "challenge" part of the whole thing: just a fun way for people to share in a fun way to engage with the site.
Having said that, Ms. Joyce is amenable to the potential of doing a contest every third month, and challenges the two in between. It's something we'll be discussing.
This is all a work in progress to figure out what fits the site best.

I'm late for my abduction!!
My own story turned out to be too late for the story contest
(despite some insane grueling all-nighters) and way too long
(which is probably why it was late); so I busted it up into 3 parts
+ am posted it as a non entry; but I'm glad you inspired me to write it.
Thanks Melanie, you are an inspiration!!

My Putin/Sissy story
Here's my submission to your Vladimir Putin Sissification Story Challenge:
by Laika Pupkino 2023
Vladimir Putin was out riding his horse naked one day in a manly fashion, singing a medly of rousing tunes from Rogers & Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA; when he was ABDUCTED by Ukranian Girly Sissy Commandos. He wished he had brought his big gun with him but where he had to holster it when he was riding naked really hurt when his horsey hit a speed bump.
The Girly Sissy Commandos had him and he knew what girly-girl sissies did when they got ahold of a virile studly manly-man like him. As they bound him in lace and satin he begged, “Please, girly sissies! Don't make me read FICTIONMANIA stories and feminize me and turn me into a sissy like you!”
“Oh no,” giggled the girly sissies, “We have no intention of sissifying you. You don't deserve to be a simpering girly-girly sissy, which is the highest calling ever and much too good for the likes of you! Although changing your name to Puta would be a fabulous pun.”
“Are you going to kill me?” he gulped. Maybe being a girly sissy wouldn't be so bad after all...
“No, silly! We're not murderers like you. We're turning you over to the International War Crimes Tribunal for crimes against humanity.”
“Oh shit,” said Putin as the girly pink helicopter swooped down and carried him off.
Then the girly-girly sissies all high-fived their transgender girly-girl sissy daughters, who they had brought along with them because it was TAKE YOUR DAUGHTER TO WORK DAY.
Then they all went off to Florida to abduct Rick De Santis, who they really did intend to sissify.

My only criticism
is that De Santis is racking up plenty of war crimes of his own.
Other than that, very fun!

Only an idea
I may have an idea, but that doesn't give me the ability to write it. First, I really don't care for the forced conversion to a sissy stories. Second, if the previous wasn't true I still wouldn't know how to write such a story and make something worth reading. Suppose I could see what a story AI could do with that, but I couldn't attach my name to such a creation in all honesty.
Besides, I think we already have a site that specializes in sissy stories. Do we want BC to emulate FM? I hope not!

Karen J "the" Author
When I first read your posts in this thread it seemed to me that you were saying you have a tough time writing.
My mind closely resembles swiss cheese now, but I vaguely remember working with you on a story about fifteen years ago, which became one of the best stories on this site . . . Happiness and a Warm Gun. https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/1645/happiness-and-wa...
Since I know you can write -- I went back and read your posts again. You were clearly saying you could not write sissy stories. That's something we share in common.
But . . . in your first post, you suggest we weren't given ample opportunity to write the stories for this contest. I don't agree. I had plenty of time to put together a story, edit it, and set it aside for a bit before a final edit and posting. In fact, I posted it on the very first day of the contest.
I understand your concern about rushed stories. I also think four contests a year might be a good goal, but don't share your trepidations about frequent story challenges. We're not professional writers. No one should expect our work to be letter perfect. No one should put that much pressure on themselves,
If you have something to say you should write a story. You had something to say when you wrote Happiness and a Warm Gun. There was a very short distance from your heart to the page. My guess is that story could have been written within a week given your background and what you wanted to say.
Karen - Mel is simply trying to generate more stories and more involved authors. It has worked in the past and seemingly will work in the future.
Thank you for your comments . . . and thank you for your stories.

Forced Fem is a big turnoff to me.
That said, I have a story in my 'To Be Finished' folder that is about the aftermath of a forced fem situation.
One day, I will get around to finishing it.
If we do get inundated with Sissy and FF stories then I will vote with my feet. I suspect that I won't be alone.

My two cents
And not a farthing more! I like the idea of these contests and although my writing drought has persisted far too long, the 'take you daughter to work' challenge is more up my alley than the abducted theme. I did love the abducted stories, our authors outdid themselves. Thanks for putting yourself out there for us Mel! :DD
