I can't believe ...
... that I shed a few tears watching the BBC video of Nicole getting her gold medal. I think it was the huge smile that did it. Even though she's, um, Welsh I took the Englishman's refuge by celebrating her Britishness :) Strange, really, because I'm about the most unpatriotic person I know. The video of the final 500 metres was pretty exciting too.
I think the women had the best weather. At least we Brits are used to the rain and the air was probably clean even if a bit damp.
Geoff
Neither can I
We saw the last 6K of the race.
When they came around the corner and she was nowhere in sight we thought "Okay, she's gonna be fourth", but round she came, past all the others and beat them to the line. Stunning stuff.
Can't understand why the Italian bird thought she'd won.
NB
I don't just look it, I really AM that bad . . .
Go Nicole !!!
Fab bit of news, she deserves her success.
Hugs

At last she produced the goods
we all knew she could, now if the other cyclists do the same, we'll do quite well. Come on team GB!

As easy as winning a gold medal...
... Someone had to say it
But didn't she just make it look easy. She had been fending off attacks from many other riders earlier and I thought it was going to be a repeat of Athens where she was marked by everyone. But even with that hiccup at 500 to go, powered back to the group and past.
Go Nicole and now looking forward to the performances of the track team.
That Race Course Was Tough!
It was mentioned that both the men's and women's course was probably the toughest in Olympic history. Add to that, the wet weather and you have a champion that earned her gold medal the hard way. Congrats. I was born and raised in the U.S.A, but I am very proud of my Scottish heritage. One of my biggest pet peeves is when some ill informed person pronounces Edinburgh EdinBURG. Anyway, I am glad to see someone win that deserves it.
Hugs,
Jen
