I am about a fifth of the way through the actual writing of the next Masks story. (10k words out of an estimated 50k.) The first part is a flashback to shortly after the demon invasion. Then the story jumps forward to mid-2019.

As I was writing the second - and by far the largest - part of the new story I realized there were things which happened between Masks XXII and this one which might be of interest to readers. Such as Vic and Energia graduating with their Masters' degrees, and Gadgetive getting her Doctor's. Then there's the wedding of Vic and Michelle...

My current plan is to add those to the end of Masks XXII and treat them as history for Masks XXIII.

Or would people like me to include them in the new story, between the already planned sections? If so, then if Masks XXII is ever published this material would be added to the end of that, since it's a bit short. That would still leave plenty for the new story. However, this change would delay the writing of Masks XXIII, since I don't actually have this material planned out, yet.

What say ye?

I will read and comment on

anything you write. The MASKS stories and the timeline is fascinating to me and I've saved every chapter as they came out. I reread them every so often and I always find things I missed the first time through or that I forgot.

So write on Stickmaker. I'm a loyal and enthusiastic fan.

Kindle Freebie?

One thing that could be done is to release the short-story as a freebie without charge. Still publishing it separately. At that stage it might even help to bring people into the universe, and get them to purchase previous editions.

I would just as soon see them

I would just as soon see them as what they are - distinctly separate events from XXII and XXIII. Maybe XXIIb :)

When/if you do a full publishing, then sure, merge them together, but rather not mash them up here.

Current book, as a flashback motivation montage

used as a flashback montage, it might me an effective tool use to show a "true love" motivation for Vic's use of force or other mental state if Michelle is placed in danger, or as a flashback if Michelle ends up in a hospital after a rogue villain (someone that broke the age old rule of not making it personal and get other supers' family members involved) attack of some kind

So far, Michelle has saved

Stickmaker's picture

So far, Michelle has saved Vic more times (once) than Vic has saved her (not at all). I prefer to avoid the "damsel in distress" trope.

I have already added a bit to Masks XXI where Vic thanks Michelle for letting Tricorne know she was missing under mysterious circumstances. "My hero!" :-)

Addendum: I wrote this on my computer, then forgot to upload it until this morning (02/07/2020).

Some useful information and

Some useful information and comments. My thanks to you all.

I am still writing the bits and will make a final decision later, but so far am planning to have the proposal in the closing part of XXII (if I do this I'll add it on here as a new section to the story) with the wedding described briefly in the early part of XXIII.

I wonder...

... which one will be in a tuxedo? There are different variants (at least four), and every one offers a multitude of possibilities. :)

Think two brides and two sets

Think two brides and two sets of bridesmaids. :-)

Oh, and it's costume friendly, with or without powers. (Inspired by two friends who had an Elfquest wedding. :-)

I'm sure that would be a

I'm sure that would be a fight. Vic seems like she would be FAR more comfortable in pants :)
