So last night, I attented my first pride protest. But it wasn't really a pride protest, we were an anti-protest, protesting a protest that was protesting Pride Night at the Lakewood Blueclaws game tomorrow night. :)
The a small portion of the local Hasidism population (Hasidic Judaism) here in New Jersey, decided to take to the streets and protest the up-coming Pride Night that will be held at First Energy Stadium in Lakewood, NJ as a Thursday night game let out.
But in the middle of a red state, I found there was more support for the GLBT Community, than there was for the other side.
The police were on our side, loving the fact that both factions were able to protest peacefully, and while one did lament that he was working, and unable to protest with us, it was a great time.
In the end, I'm not sure if we changed many minds, but I feel we were able to show the Lakewood Blueclaws that the community supports them in their support of GLBT Pride, and we hope that we have opened at least a few minds.
