We do a lot of stories about the boy who can easily switch gender so he-she is recognized as she. Back in the late sixties and seventies a lot of boy bands were desperately trying to stand out from the crowd. Several ideas were tried by the different bands. High pitched voices, long hair of course, glitzy clothes that could be female, and to a lesser extent even full makeup. Most looked like long haired males. Some had me doing double, triple takes. There are dozens upon dozens of videos on youtube which one can get the idea, which in the past few years I'm finding out what went on during the sixties and seventies. I was there but I wasn't. We didn't have time to go to any concerts even if there were any in my part of the world. TV was three channels and they didn't broadcast those things even if we had time to watch, which we didn't.
All that said, this popped up on youtube a while aback. Take a good look at Mitch at the four and five second mark. I think any girl would be pleased to look as pretty and no makeup? The stories we write aren't all make believe. I wish everyone could achieve their own dream in life.

Sweet
Steve was the pretty one ;-)
I agree
While Mick is looking good. I had to run through it three times and check the names to convince me Steve wasn't a girl. Love his outfit as well.

Of the lyrics are quite interesting from that period too!

Yep... Was rereading Jem...
And also watched that video. Drummer was also quite feminine. And Steve had some eye shadow and probably mascara and lipstick. One interesting thing is that in the whole 4 minutes of the video you can see him below neck only for like 7 to 8 seconds and his legs were never shown...
And if you look at this video of Blockbuster from "Top of the pops" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y64211sjSko )... Eyelashes, lipstick, "whole 9 yards".

That took me back! I remember watching that and i'm pretty sure lurking in my cupboard is a 7" single of Blockbuster. Have to say, neither me nor my peers found anything weird about how they presented, it was all just part of the Glam Rock thing, Bolan, Bowie, Sweet, Slade, Quattro - even Queen (and some that should not be named!)
Such innocent times, you could be locked up for being a nonce but 'cross dressing' was almost encouraged.

Talk about lurking....
I have quite a few albums from this group. They were all so "pretty".
Sigh

I remember the song,
I remember the song, but I never saw them.
Gee, such pretty boys. :D
That probably goes for a lot of people. This was at the dawn of modern music videos. Most people were still listening to radio(I was) , videos were not mainstream yet.
>i< ..:::
I remember it as well,
And your right. Out of the four of them, three could pass as girls, sort of. The one with the nose like Klinger from MASH might have a little problem.

Thanks for the cartoons.
I just posted the second one on my Facebook page.
I Liked The Cover of
Lou Reed's 'Transformers' album. It has Lou as tough-guy hood on one side and Lou as fem fatal on the other side. Contains 'Walk on the Wild Side' and many others. I think Lou just used er hair in both poses; make-up but no wigs.

But The whole crossing the gender line never stopped. There is examples in the 80's 90's and even today. Heck for the longest time many people thought Justin Bieber was a girl.
Boy George was rather famous for crossing the line in the 80's.
crossing
Pete Burns almost made it to the other side of the line.
I agree.
"GOD! I hate MS!" I agree. Multiple Sclerosis is evil.
