I've recently found a new-to-me author, AuPreviner. What I've read is insightful and well crafted.
I've only read one offering so far, " A Friend in Need is a Friend In Deed". The first several chapters may be a little awkward, but the story is developed well over the next 20 installations. The story isn't finished, but is already somewhere in excess of 200k words, I think.
Sweet, sentimental, and several chapters probably need a box of Kleenex.

Lynx, thank you for your kind words and your proclamation. I am very touched and humbled by what you had to say about me.
My first work on this site was 'A Friend in Need.' I had a lot of fun with it and plan to have more.
I started 'A Friend in Need' just trying out my writing skills. Someone made a comment that I should expand the story more, so I did. And that created some problems in my timeline I have to fix. And, at the time I quit, I hadn't progressed enough as a writer to effectively deal with those issues.
I also hit a place the story where I felt the need to stop for a while before I damaged the story.
Don't fret. I have it well outlined to the end knowing exactly what is happening to Sam and what her adventures will be, but I found another issue was that my writing style started to change so drastically from chapter to chapter that even if I didn't have timeline errors, I needed to set it aside until I feel I can finish it exercising the same style from beginning to end. It wasn't just that I blew some key details and in order to fix them, I have to do some a little rewriting of early chapters. Yet, I don't want to change the essential story.
More than likely, this is what my muse is saying, I will do a revision where I will even out the writing style while making the chapters a similar size. Taking that approach, I will separate it into three books focused around elementary school, junior high, and high school.
In any event, my muse is in a state of flux as to what she wants to do. But, as I finish more short stories, she is gaining in experience and confidence to come back finish 'A Friend in Need' in a way that does the story justice.
That is why my muse has largely concentrated on short stories or novellas since chapter 25. She is learning to shape the narrative in a story much more to her liking.
In the meantime, it is real nice to find that someone appreciates my stories and takes the time to tell others about them.
