So, I'm looking for a little input on which story I should tackle next. For convenience sake, I'm going to re-post my blog here, but you'll need to actually visit my site to vote on the poll.
First off, I want to state that Legacy of Earth will still remain a priority. I have been keeping quiet on the development of the story as of late, but it is something I very much want to get finished. There have been some recent set backs in that department due largely to my dissatisfaction in the way a certain part of the story turned out, but I do see some hope on the horizon. I will continue working on it behind the scenes, until I'm satisfied it is ready to see the light of day.
That being said I have something of a backlog with Psyren's redemption and as such I'm getting relatively close to writing the end of the story. I've already written parts of the finale and the epilogue, but they will need to see significant revisions and expansion. With the story getting so near to a close, I've been thinking about my next undertaking.
I've mentioned in the past, that I started a rewrite of Virtually Twisted, and it sat there collecting dust on my hard drive for quite a while. I recently opened up the file and took a look at it. I've since done some editing mainly grammatical and a few other tweaks. What surprised me the most was how near the story was to completion. So, I've decided after Psyren's Redemption's final chapters I will be posting the new version of Virtually Twisted. That being said, I'm a bit conflicted on what I should write after Virtually Twisted is complete, like Psyren's Redemption I will serialize it, but if I can complete it and begin another story, I believe I may be able to get a good start on the new tale and serialize it alongside the revised Virtually Twisted. That's right, two weekly serials at the same time!
So, on to the primary reason for this blog post. I have several stories on the old back burner, but I can't quite decide which of them I should tackle. I'm going to list them here with a brief synopsis of each and then I'm going to ask you folks which of these stories most piques your interest.
Ragnarok Rising Prequel
Basically, this would be the origin story of Morgana le Fey, the ancestor of Bryn , Athilda & Aryanna in the Ragnarok Rising series who is based off of a figure in Arthurian legend. It would detail her quest for vengeance against an evil tyrant and her journey from simple village boy to powerful Sorceress. The title is something I've yet to come up with, but it will more than likely follow the same naming convention as the previous stories. This story is one which I've had on the back-burner for a long time, and as such it is one of the more developed ideas. Ambrosius Aurelianus (One of the possible inspirations for King Arthur) and Myrddin Wyllt (the inspiration for Merlin) will be featured heavily as the antagonists of this tale. This story would weave Authurian legend with Norse mythology and elements of English folklore.
The Fall and Rise of Kruhl
This would be the second story or third story in my Exemplar Universe (see below), set some time after the events of Psyren's Redemption and would be loosely connected to the previous story in much the same way as Iron Man and Thor are connected in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I want to include both Sapphira and Amelia in this story, but have yet to decide how prevalent their roles will be. At the very least, they will have a small cameo, but I suspect their role will be greater than that. As far as the story goes, the protagonist Kruhl, will be an aging barbarian warrior who was once a hero among his people, but after defeating a wicked sorcerer rose to power as the new leader of his people and became tyrant. He is overthrown, and cast out of his realm by those he once ruled over. When he awakens, he is on Earth, and transformed into a young college-aged woman of diminutive stature, what is seen as the ultimate insult to someone who once prided himself on his strength and virility. His sword, the source of his powers, is also inadvertently sent to Earth, but through the interference of AEGIS it is separated from him it. As he struggles with his new gender and severely weakened body and his new found attraction to men, he seeks to retrieve the sword and a way to return home so that he may seek vengeance against those who deposed him, but finds himself hindered by the efforts of a villain, who also seeks the power of the sword for her own selfish reasons.
Untitled Exemplar Story
Set in the Exemplar Universe like the above tale, this one could either be the second or third story (see above). Of all the stories here, this one has seen very little development, but I have the basic foundations for a story it just needs to be fleshed out more. A father of dying girl, is approached by a representative of a corporation that claims it is able to cure his daughter, using experimental nanite therapy, but there's a catch. They want him, in turn to participate in a trial for a radical nanite treatment. Unfortunately, the treatment is designed to completely transform him into a woman. He reluctantly agrees, and is transformed in ways he hadn't expected and given super powers. Unfortunately, the corporation isn't exactly on the level and he soon discovers that the supposed unintended side effects of his change were very intentional and that the company aims to do some very shady things from what they have learned from the experiment. The company tries to exterminate him, but he escapes and he soon discovers that he is wanted by the authorities. The rest of the story is a race against time as he attempts to expose the company, clear his name and save his daughter from the clutches of the corporation. Again, Sapphira and Amelia will probably make an appearance in this story, but the extent of their involvement is up in the air.
Untitled Twisted Tale
Another story, I've wanted to write for a long time, this one, like Virtually Twisted, is set in Morpheus's twisted Universe. Despite this, I have nor given anything close to the same amount of consideration I have for the Ragnarok Rising prequel. The details of the story aren't resolved yet, largely because I need to clear certain aspects with the Dreamer himself, but the story would involve the protagonist getting transformed into a girl and developing an obsession with Eighties era rock music or possibly metal music and a desire to learn how to produce that type of music. One possible means through which this might happen is that the protagonist is stranded naked near a lake, through a juvenile prank and finds a shirt with a rock music motif unfortunately it happens to be a women's shirt. When he undergoes his twist, he will face the usual bigotry and vitriol, but I want to write a tale where the protagonist finds acceptance within his community through the help of sympathetic friends and is able to show his worth to the larger community by proving that 'she' isn't a danger to anyone. I doubt this would feature any cameos from any other characters in this universe, mine or otherwise, largely because it would be set in a seperate town from the others and would not directly involve the town of Spiral.
I'm curious to see what you think I should write. Keep in mind that these story ideas are subject to change and I may or may not pick the top choice for my next project. This poll is intended to gauge interest only, certainly I will be take the results into consideration, but it will not be the only criteria through which I will pick my next project.
Thank you and have a delightfully demented day,
