Moving day (sort of)

Some ten days ago it was agreed that I could collect all my remaining possessions from my former apartment on an appointed day.

That was today amd I should have guessed that a few things wouldn't go to plan. It started when no-one arrived at 0900 except myself and my uncle. I called the agency, left a message and got a call back after a few minutes - the usual agent was on his way but hadn't expected to be there today, there was a mis-communication between himself and the owner apparently. That was the first problem, as he arrived he suggested there was another issue.

It seems all of my remaining clothing has been taken to a charity bin.

I'd removed (I think) all of my female attire, plus all the 'smalls' but most of my male wardrobe remained. That included fifteen M&S lambswool pullovers, polo shirts galore, assorted tops, trousers, formal shirts, blazers and my black suit. All that remained was a cream suit. All told, several hundred pounds worth.

I discovered there was a kitchen chair missing and a few other unaccounted items then I went to the airing cupboard - it was bare! There were supposed to be two baskets of fresh towels and laundered bed linen. Fortunately my kingside bed sets were in a drawer under my bed so they weren't lost but all my daughter's spare bedding is missing. Add a few more hundred pounds to replace all of that. Total guesstimate right now is £750. That's also the deposit I'm due back - what likelihood of the compensation and the deposit being paid.

The agent to be fair, didn't know much about this but promised I would get a call on Tuesday. I should be insured but as there appears to be malice at work I'll go for the compensation and take legal action if necessary - let's see what tomorrow brings.

The entire contents has been removed to the new place but that's all. I still haven't signed a tenancy agreement and can't organise the rent payments until that's in place.

Oh, Social Services called - I told the guy we were moving today, the call lasted 43 seconds and he didn't ask for any more information.

So the saga continues.
