For all the women on here, let's hope you don't do what I did in the shower this morning..... I've neglected shaving my legs for a while and my legs were "moderately" hairy. I get done with one leg no problem but about halfway through the second one I cut myself with the razor and it hurt like hell(keep in mind that I had never cut myself with the razor before this morning). My boyfriend was cracking up when I came out of the bathroom with a bandage on my leg saying "Looks like someone got a bit messy I see?"
I hope I don't have to deal with that again.......

There's nothing worse than cutting yourself shaving.
It bleeds everywhere, and takes forever to stop....
What's worse, at least for me, is when you start bleeding without cutting yourself. My legs, arms... well, anything I shave -- tend to bleed, especially during the summer, if I exert myself too much or for too long, just seeping from my pores or folicles, not really sure. It's not pleasant.
EDIT: Further looking into THAT, which I've needed to do for a while, points towards porphyria, something that also seems to have other symptoms aligning with other neurological and physical issues I tend to have. This requires further investigation and a doctor's appointment, methinks.

You might look into using a safety razor. You can get a decent starter razor for about $20 (or less, for a cheapie), and the blades are both cheap and usually last a number of shaves. (probably only one or two for both legs) The point is that there's only _one_ edge to control, unlike those multi-blade pieces of crap, where if you get one perfectly aligned, that leaves up to four others that will flay your skin.
I just removed almost three weeks of beard with an open comb safety razor - took about twice as long as normal, but no cuts.
P.S. You might also look into getting a styptic pencil, or maybe an alum block. (wet the block, rub it over the skinned area. Stings like heck, but stops the bleeding)

I myself have gotten myself a few times, usually its my knees and because I am trying to hurry or press too hard. That aside, I use Olay Body Wash plus. The kind with moisture ribbons. and for razors I use the Gillette simple venus or sensor three. The Mach razors flex back too much. When I do nick myself and its small I use cold water to slow the blood and dab some conditioner on it. Anything more serious than that I use old fashioned white iodine or a band-aid. It doesn't hurt to use a styptic pencil for little nicks

Gillette's VENUS, it has a nice sized blade. Try a man's shaving gel. A styptic pencil (alum) will stop the blood quick.

They have this product called a 'styptic pencil' its a white crystal that comes in a protective plastic tube. You get it wet and rub it onto the sliced up area. It helps the blood to clot and the bleeding stops quickly.

It's primarily powdered alum that's compressed into a pencil shape. You can also buy an alum block, which is what straight razor shavers often use as an 'after shave' to tighten up the pores. The block would work better for 'rug burn' type cuts.
Witch hazel is also supposedly an astringent, but not as good as alum. And stinkier.

Time to buy an epilator!
The pain varies from person to person (decreasing with time) and hopefully your bathroom will look less like a crime scene.

Little nicks, small cuts, or run the chainsaw across the leg...,
Use a good germicide-bacteria killer I use DMSO or MMS, you're on your own here
Let it dry if it isn't bleeding apply a dab of vaseline and bandaid. Change daily, good as new in a couple days, no scab either.
Bleeding a lot? Cleanse as well as possible. Slather with vaseline. Wrap it with gauze. Change daily. A couple weeks no scab, no scar. I don't have hair growing where I cut it with the chainsaw but other than that it looks normal. I can't in good faith recommend a chainsaw as permanent hair removal application.
Vaseline is the first aid in a jar. That was the first purpose of it instead of a lubricant.
Have fun with life. It's too short to take it seriously.

Have to agree that a single blade can be better
That is what I used pre-hormones and any cuts tended to be minor nicks at worst.
Once on hormones I lost most of my body hair except in the crotch and on toes and fingers (electrolysis took care of that) and a hint on my underarms which is not enough to bother with so I am spared shaving.
