Hurry
The supreme court is about to make a decision which could gut the A C A or Obamacare . The way that court is who know what the will decided . Good to be in America .
sorry this article is misleading
Obama care has nothing to do with covering SRS. it is the coverage she picked, unless it is medicaid she is on, and then it was the court decision reached last year when another trans person sued Medicare about the grounds why SRS coverage was stopped back in the 80's, now it is NOT listed as "experimental" and is on the approved list, on a case by case basis last i read at least. so if on Medicaid the only real way obama care is possible to credit if she only got medicaid because of the new qualifications being lower and more inclusive
Obama care in the exchanges in AZ at least ALL OF THE PLANS specifically say they DO NOT cover ANY trans healthcare period.

She had to state shoping to get the coverage
It's kinda like the VA, You want them to look at you as more than gaming the system, you have to shop the Regional VA Centers.to find one accepting of transgender. Fifteen years ago the New Orleans VA center accepted transgender. One of the girls had gone through Amarillo without any problem. When I contacted Amarillo they had shut down accepting Trans. At the time Amarillo was accepting Vegas and Los Angles was accepting trans VA. I didn't keep in touch over the years so I have no idea if they are still in or not.
There was a doctor in Dallas who was working with the VA to take a test run of Trans VA and make it an intricate part of the system. I also lost contact with him so I have no idea if it came of age or withered on the vine.
For many more years than I care to share, I have been pushing the Amarillo VA to accept trans and offer hormones, testings, and checkups. I think they keep me around as a pet. Everyone is more than exceptionally nice. They agree it probably should be looked into. But then the point past hormones scares them. They are afraid of stepping on that slippery slope. I thought I had one of the implant makers willing to donate implants but it takes a doctor to put them in. The VA wasn't willing to commit.
If I remember the article the lady had to shift her health care to Georgia to qualify for TG care.

IRS Deduction
SRS, and as I understand it, related costs are approved as a legitimate deductions on your income tax.
When you reach 65 Medicare will also cover SRS.
At least last I looked up all of this, a year back.
