For those that haven't heard, A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story will be telecast on the Lifetime Channel on Sunday, June 25th at 7 PM ET/PT (Check your local listings). This is a made for TV movie about a young man, Eddie Araujo, who felt he was a girl trapped in a boy's body. He made the decision to become what he - SHE felt she should have been; and became Gwen Araujo. She was murdered on October 4th, 2002 when some "friends" discovered she was biologically male. Two of the four men were convicted of second degree murder, the other two reached deals with the DA.

I read a wonderful story in Rolling Stone magazine about Gwen several years ago. She did nothing to deserve being killed, except challenge the accepted gender norms. How many of us on here have done the same?

There is a considerable amount available about Gwen Araujo on line, just Google her name. The Lifetime movie has received good reviews, and should be worth watching. For more information see the listing on Lifetime's website: A Girl Like Me.

Love and hugs to all on here,
Karen J. Taylor
