Here is a video for anyone considering the possibility of becoming a refugee from anti-queer harassment and persecution.
A few weeks ago there was a discussion here about possible safe havens for members of the LGBTQ+ community. One such country mentioned was Uruguay. Yesterday Maddie, a young lady from Australia who moved to Uruguay a few years back, published an interesting almost 45 minute video where she explores this safe haven concept with several of her friends who are member of the queer community. I watched the first 14 minutes, just to see if it was worth recommending it here on BigCloset. But since I have no intention of returning to that region (I come from Paraguay) mainly due to pretty severe food intolerance to local food staple variants, I am stopping there. Maddie does a good job of not only sharing personal experiences, but also providing specific legal information as a basis for further research.
If you have the means, and want to relocate to a safer country, check out Is Uruguay an LGBTQ paradise? Leave the USA for Uruguay with Corey Maison on YouTube.
Maddie has also posted a number of videos exploring the culture of Uruguay from the perspective of a foreigner. Which can also be very informative for anyone wanting to visit Uruguay.
