Blog About:

Last week, I blogged about taking my wife to the doctor. As I mentioned in that blog, I was wearing obvious women's pants and tops and had my hair fixed in a way that would lend itself to reinforce my gender presentation. The point of that blog was to highlight how relaxed my wife has become about how I'm dressed when we are out and about together.

This blog is about the doctor's take on how I was dressed. To put everything in perspective, we have the same primary care physician, and that doctor has seen me many times in a skirt and even more obvious pants and tops. My medical record shows me as female, with pronouns; she, her.

I was reading the doctor's notes on the visit. The doctor's main concern is my wife's HGA1C was high in her last blood work. They discussed that and what we could do about it. It was revealed that I was the cook at home.

It was the doctor's PC reference when entering that fact in the visit notes:

Partner is making most of their food, and so has been working more on a diabetic friendly diet.

I'm sure that my wife never referred to me as her "partner." If she referred to me at all, it would have been as her "husband." The doctor chose the PC term "partner," I'm sure, based on what my medical record says and she's used to dealing with me as a transgender patient. I had to smile when I read that.
