Love, soft as an easy chair
Love, fresh as the morning air
One love that is shared by two
I have found with you

Like a rose under the April snow
I was always certain love would grow
Love ageless and evergreen
Seldom seen by two

You and I will make each night a first
Every day a beginning
Spirits rise and their dance is unrehearsed
They warm and excite us
'Cause we have the brightest love

Two lights that shine as one
Morning glory and midnight sun
Time we've learned to sail above
Time won't change the meaning of one love
Ageless and ever evergreen

I was in and out of a restless sleep last night when out of the blue I recalled one defining moment in my relationship with Tracey. We were at a weekly prayer meeting when a woman prayed very sincerely for the 'transgenders' to go back and not be that way." Please don't get me wrong; she's a dear friend who was very supportive of our families when Tracey passed.

But on the way home Tracey remarked to me that she knew the friend's prayer would upset me. But also that our friend didn't know any better. And then Tracey acknowledged how hard it would be for me because I didn't have the freedom to talk about it. Only after she passed did I learn through some notes she wrote about looking for an opportunity for telling our son.

And since then I also learned that my son and daughter-in-law knew for awhile because he discovered one of my stories on our computer much like Tracey had.

And since then my niece reached out to me this after I asked for a copy of her doctoral thesis on Health Care for the Transgender Patient. She called me up the day after the recent election; providing encouragement after anticipating my disappointment and worry.

All that to say that in the midst of everything, I am blessed. The song above expresses my heart for the love Tracey and I shared And I am thankful for my home here and for dear ones who I've known like forever and some I've only recently come to know better. Thank you all for blessing my life!

Happy Thanksgiving!

A huge loss

But I love that your son, his wife and your niece all know and support Andrea now.
And that Tracey was starting to. So many of your stories are about struggling with
coming out, hoping for acceptance; and how this mirrored your own RL anxieties.
And now to have some people you love doing just that. Whatever we're facing
facing from this looming Darkness at Noon regime we might get through it
with just enough true allies. And that's something to be thankful for.

. . . is that we can see the stars. And in your son, his wife, and your niece, you have some that burn bright. A blessed Thanksgiving to you, ’Drea!
