Just wait . . .

Soon the gender gendarmes will be bleating that we shouldn’t be allowed to compete in beauty pageants, since we have an unfair advantage over cis girls. ;-)

Advantage

You kid but no doubt some made up excuse has already been put out there long before now, sadly.

Speaking of excuses

Googling around we get the usual MAGA outrage of saying a 'MAN' just won the contest. And crap about men invading womens' spaces. So apparently that is the usual attack vector nowadays.

Being Called Beautiful

Just me, but I would not want to put up with all the BS of registering for something like that. Better to be called beautiful in anonymity.

Beauty is Subjective

This is one area I totally agree transgender can compete on an equal basis with GG. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. There is no favoritism because one has a testosterone head start over estrogen. I'm pleased for her and all the beautiful women in the world, no mater what was on their birth certificate.

If anything

If anything, trans women compete at a disadvantage. In this area an abundance of testosterone is something to overcome in order to look beautiful and then there's all the male conditioning that went on before transition.

Competing in a beauty pageant is all about presenting a refined, feminine image. We all have various areas in our presentation that present some distraction to that. I'm sure Ms. Kennedy is no exception and yet she pulled it off for the win. No doubt the result of hard work. She no doubt deserves the win.

Compete but not win???

Dee Sylvan's picture

I just read that the Miss America pageant said that Miss Maryland can compete in the competition but not win. I guess anything to try and save face. Bailey Anne Kennedy winning is just another step forward for the trans community.

Former Miss Maryland USA 2016, Christina Denny McDaniel, said she was impressed with all the barriers Kennedy has broken. “I hope Bailey’s win inspires people both young and old to stand tall in their truth and not let anything hold them back in the pursuit of their dreams,” she said. “Bailey will represent Maryland wonderfully at Miss USA. I look forward to following her journey as she continues to make history here in Maryland.”

I personally have found that most people have not taken even a surface look at trans issues. I hope that this will continue the discussion in a positive way and encourage people to have discussions, rather than just listen to desperate politicians spout nonsensical cliches. :DD

Compete but Not Win

The essence of competing is the effort to win by establishing superiority. Removing the ability to win negates competition.

Another moronic decision.

Let's apply this to a two-person footrace. "Yes, transgirl, you can compete, but you can't win. Should you cross the finish line first, you will come in second to last, and the 'real' girl will be the winner."

How Pravda-like.
