Bugs In My Garden

Printer-friendly version

It seems that my Muse shared an amphora of The Good Stuff with Bacchus, from his Private Cellar.

And she came back with this “hangover”.

No real bugs were harmed in writing this offering.

And now, without further delay in the way, I offer:

- - -

“Bugs In My Garden”
- -
The Bugs: “Lettuce! Prey!

The Plants: “Let us pray!

My Neighbor: “Bug Spray.”

Neighbors garden service: “Let us spray!”

Me and the Bugs: “Bug spray?” - “Let us pray.”

Me: “Bug spray – not my way.”

The Bugs: “No spray? Hooray! Then lettuce go our way.”

Me: “My crops – they go away ...”

Google: “Let us say, soap to spray, and vinegar in play, keeps pests away!”

The Bugs: “A bath! Yuck! Let us bubbles spray and be away.”

Me: “Google, Hooray! You say the Way to save my Day. Lettuce send thanks your way.”

Actually looked up that weed killer

I have a lot of weeds growing in my gravel drive way and walkway. I was thinking of salting it, but it would take a huge amount of salt, so salt, vinegar, dish soap seems to be the best way to go.

Salt, and the plants you want ...

The salt is likely to persist for a while, and perhaps kill plants you do want, like grass or garden.

In my story, the soap+vinegar concoction was meant to drive away the bugs, which it did.

Decades ago, a columnist for a local newspaper ran an occasional "Things I learned while looking up something else" column. And so, here we are ... {smile}

As for weed killers, please, never, ever use monsanto's 'round up'. It starts at evil and goes downhill fast.

Not to worry

I will only be using it on the graveled portion of my property and on the patio which has cement pavers that like to grow nasties in the crack between.

Cute

Very nice Alan. Lettuce hope that no rabbits are nearby.

Those wascally wabbits seem to zero in on greens but leave tomatoes alone. Fortunately my dogs keep the deer out of the garden, and the pesky groundhog next door keeps out too. My dog has vanquished a couple of groundhogs earning a nice marrow bone to munch on.

I love my garden in the summer, this is the best time of the year. Fresh tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, peppers, oh my. Maybe the best part is watching the cannabis plants getting ready to bud. :DD
