nope
normally no problem but this one won't open. ( FF3 and AR 8.something ) The little download bar goes half way then craps out... file damaged cannot be repaired. Maybe whoever's blowing it down the pipe under the Pacific is running out of puff.

At least you got some response when clicking the links. I get nothing at all. This is the story she has posted on another site you have to be a member of to read. I choose to be cautious of where I toss out email addys etc, so have not joined, (I already get over 400 spam emails a day) so all I have is the original text post she did. When I click to read them, all it does is go to the page here where the link is posted.

The Chapter Three link, the one that ends in .pdf, does indeed take you to the new .pdf unless somehow you're getting a cached page.

So....you aren't getting a PDF when you click on the link? They download OK for me now. I didn't realize when I uploaded them, that the filenames got changed a little, but that has been fixed.
If your browser is like mine, it just downloads PDFs. You have to open them up to read them. Some browsers read them directly. Are you sure there aren't copies hidden in some download directory?

My cellphone running Windows Mobile downloaded it just fine. Unfortunately, viewing it on this tiny screen is a whole other story. :-(

I like how Aubrey is questioning her sexuality. I have to wonder if everyone is bisexual to some degree.
I like the end of this chapter too. I'm sure she'll get the hang of cold cream eventually. ;)

great characters, dialog
as natural & real-seeming as it gets around here, not unlike what Poetheather has achieved with her College Girl series(es), to give one example, though your tale here has the magical elements. The plot deals with the impossible in a very natural way as well...
But I wonder if I'm the only one who has an aversion to computer illustrations in general, or if I'm just an anachronism, a fossil? I mention this hesitantly, because you're obviously a really good artist, who loves this artform, had fun doing these and worked hard to make them as naturalistic as possible---introducing little randomnesses here & there---so that they are EXCELLENT use of the medium....... but to me there is an inherent diagramatic or toy-like quality to human figures rendered this way (perhaps the proportions are too consistently perfect, what the eye sees when looking at a person in space is more subjective, given to perceptual distortions that have a bit in common with caricature, lies that feel more true than literal truth...) that stands in contrast to the organic nature of the writing, the very real humans you have populated this story with. Or maybe that's just me, but in any case it's a great story, and the fact that it is illustrated
brings a nice sense of variety to this here story site, though in terms of a specific style I prefer
the heart & funk & imperfection of hand-drawn...

No, Laika, you are definitely not an anachromism (and presumably not a fossil-your writing is certainly not stiff enough to be written by an old bone:P )
A lot of people don't like 3d images...and there is probably a very good reason they prefer hand drawn or more stylized art than 3d. Someone did some studying and discovered that abstract images are very well accepted by the human mind as a way to convey a message. The minds sees them and draws the necessary conclusions without really analyzing the lack of realism. As the imagery becomes more and more realistic, the mind becomes confused. Is this an abstract image or reality? The brain is tuned very carefully to identify things that are misplaced. Without this attention to detail, early man would have had a very hard time surviving certain dangers early on. So, as we become more and more realistic in our imagery, the brain switches from accepting it as abstract (and therefore, not really passing it through the creep filter) and letting the subconscious do it's work in order to determine if there is something that should be worrisome to the viewer. You would get similar reactions from very realistic paintings, if a really lousy painter could do a good enough job that you saw it as being more realistic. However, those that can cross over from abstract to realism have such a great eye, that they are able to capture enough detail to pass the creep filter.
So, for people like me, the creep filter does come into effect. Hopefully to a lesser degree than in other 3d images you see.
I wonder if certain images jumped out and came off with a stronger "creep factor" than others. Perhaps my choice of lighting (or worse, that goofy looking boy that Ella was stuck with, lol...he really turned out crappy:O ) I will admit, these were less satisfactory than the images from the last two, but I wanted to move on, so I went ahead and posted it, even though several of the pictures were sub par....and the lighting in the club wasn't the best either, I don't think.
I really do appreciate honest opinions, so please let me know what you think-good or bad! :)

Uncanny Valley
Though "Creep Filter" and "Creep Factor" have an appeal, the phenomenon you're talking about is usually called the "Uncanny Valley" by CGI artists. This is the where as you get closer to reality you hit a region where images are LESS acceptable than more abstract ones. They liken this to how the eyes and parts of the features of monkeys and apes are disturbing because they are "not quite human" but human enough to be scary.
In transgenderism, the same phenomenon can be sometimes seen. A guy in a dress can look ridiculous. A really good female impersonator can be utterly convincing. But let some poor TG do a wonderful job except for revealing too large hands or an Adam's apple or a very male voice and some people will get creeped out. Hence the image used in some films of the transvestite killer.
The best monster art almost always has an element of the art style called magic realism in it. Images that are "too real" to be comfortably viewed. And this is why CGI art is often used for horror, sci-fi and fantasy where the Uncanny Valley effect can be used instead of avoided.

I like the story thus far
I also enjoy the graphics. However I print stories out for reading, and was wondering if you could also offer a text only version (just trying to save toner)...look forward to more :)
