Going Home Chapter 3

Printer-friendly version

“Echo three to Viminacium, sector 047 is clear. No, Orgaian security patrol or drones detected.”

Lisa was out on patrol in her new fighter. Echo four was in one of the standard fighters and just ahead of her. She was enjoying being able to fly when she wanted to.

“Flight control to echo three, we’re picking up a disturbance in sector 44 off our port side. Can you check it out and see if it is going to be a problem?”

“No problem flight control.”

Lisa heads towards the sector and notice it was an old unmanned probe about two hundred years old.

“Echo three to flight control. It’s an old Federation class V probe.”

“Can you bring it back?”

“Yes, I can use my tractor beam and bring it back to the ship.”

“Alright echo three.”

Lisa locks on with her tractor beam and brings the probe back to the ship. She wonders why it was left out here to float in space. She heads into the landing bay with Echo four right behind her. The forcefield that protected the cargo bay from space allowed her and the probe to pass through. She lowers the probe to the waiting bay crew and maneuver over to a clear space meant for her fighter. She powers down her fighter and takes her helmet off as she exists from the cockpit.

“Where did you find this hunk of junk?”

“I didn’t, the bridge did. Is it going to be of any help to us?”

“Well, most of the data recorded in it is about two hundred years old, but we could compare what it recorded against what we know already
and see if there is anything we might have missed.”

“Well, good luck. I’m heading to my quarters.”

Marlow watches as Lisa walks off. She had a cute behind underneath that flight suit of hers.

Lisa walks over and takes the lift to the deck her quarters were located on. Her husband was up on the bridge right now, so she had the place to herself. She strips out of her flight suit and steps into the shower. Even though her body didn’t sweat or produce as much waste as a normal human body did, it still felt nice to let the water cascade down her body.

The Orgaians did a good job on constructing her new body, even though it was a girl’s body instead of a boy’s body, she still enjoyed it. She scrubs her body and trim what pubic hair her body grew, which wasn’t much. She puts on a nice skirt, blouse and flats head to the mess hall to grab some dinner.

As she is seating and eating her dinner, she wonders what Earth looks like now. She had been abducted in October of 1979. Her husband had been abducted several years earlier and didn’t know who Buck Roger’s was. Which, was fine with her. She didn’t know what Star Wars or Star Trek was until Troy told her about them. When they were designing and building the other fighters, he wanted to make them look like something called an X-Wing fighter. She wanted them to be more like her Thunder fighter. In the end, Captain Vellutus had decided on the design of the fighters to look more like advance Earth fighter jets, so when they got to Earth it wouldn’t take their pilots long to adjust to how their fighters worked. Her fighter was the only exception.

She was shorter than most of the other pilots. She built two fighters for herself. They could construct another fighter for her if they needed to, but normal she kept primary and secondary.

P9 was used on the bridge and down in the hangar to maintain the ships navigation systems and chart.

As Lisa is sitting and relaxing. She notices two members of ship security come walking into the mess hall. They looked like they had been put through the ringer. She wonders what they have been up too.

“Hey Alex, why don’t you and your partner there, union me?”

“Thanks, Lisa.”

Lisa watches as Alex gets his meal and his partner in crime gets her meal as well. She hadn’t seen her before, but she did have some cybernetic implants. Her right eye had been replaced with a portable scanner that allows her to see through any type of material.

She knew that type of operation was painful. The Orgaians didn’t believe in pain relief. They perform all operations on their victims without any pain killer or numbing. Sometimes, their victims didn’t survive the operation. Sometimes, they did survive, but were never the same afterwards. Lisa could see it in her normal eye. The hunting look of what they did to her. She notices she had a cybernetic artificial right arm. Which meant they must have made the whole right side of her body cybernetic.

“Who’s your partner?”

“This is Mia. She doesn’t speak much.”

“Nice to meet you, Mia.”

Mia just nods her head at her.

Alex and Mia sit down at the table with Lisa.

“So, do you guys regret cutting ties with the Orgaians?”

“Nope, both me and Mia are happy to be free from their control. If we had stayed any longer, both of us would had ended being turned into full
mindless cyborgs. They would had completely wiped our minds, destroying all our memories and emotions. Then they would had filled our minds with every security law and tactical knowledge. Basically, turning us into mindless drones.”

Lisa noticed that Mia had gotten a special liquid concoction that was meant for people with cybernetics parts. Alex had grabbed a cheesesteak sub. The meat wasn’t true steak, but it was enough you couldn’t tell that it wasn’t.

“I can understand that reason extremely well. I lost a few friends who they turned into combat drones. There was none of their humanity left inside them. They were just killing machines.”

Lisa shivers from the memory of four people she knew. Luckily for them, they didn’t live long after the conversion to have to suffer for long.

“So, what mischief have the two of you been up too?”

“Nothing. We had training today. One of the human/animal hybrids today. He tore into us and pushed us beyond what we were used to. Even people like Mia who have cybernetic limbs and such were pushed to their breaking point. He’s our new instructor for the rest of the week. Then we move on to advance combat training.”

“Dam, he sounds like a hard ass. I hope I don’t get him. The Captain wants all pilots to go through a survive course. So, we’re going to be going through a two weeks survive course on the Vanguard starting next week.”

“You’re using the Vanguard?”

“Yep, it’s the only ship in the fleet right now that can create any type of environment. The artificial environment is so real, that you actually believe you’re in that environment.”

Mia looks at Lisa “is it that realistic?”

Mia’s voice had a computerized tone to it.

“Yep, it’s that realistic. I only worked on the Vanguard for a few turns, but I was there when they tested the systems out. I nearly froze my assets off when they tried to recreate the environment from Crawonus. It was so real, that when they created the environment from Crawonus. We all had to huddle together to keep from freezing.”

Mia looks thoughtful for a few minutes.

“Are we allowed to visit the Vanguard for personal reasons?”

“If it doesn’t interfere with your duties or you have put in some time off with your department head. If you want to use it for entertainment, the
holosuites here can recreate most things. They aren’t that bad.”

“No, there’s another reason I’m interested in the Vanguard.”

“Okay.”

Alex and Mia finishes their dinner.

“Well, we’re off Lisa. It’s been nice talking to you.”

“You too Alex. Bye Mia.”

“Bye Lisa.”

Lisa watches them go and decides to head back to her quarters. Her husband should be off soon.
