Do You Believe In Magic? Chapter 1

Printer-friendly version

Do you remember the saying be careful what you wish fore, you might get it? Well for me I found that out the hard way. Let me tell you how it happened. You see my name is David and I’m only fifteen years old. I enjoy comic books and writing stories about made-up superheroes I create for role playing games. I also enjoy playing these games with a group of friends of mine. We get together on the weekends and play either Marvel superheroes or some other role playing game. Like most teenage boys my age, when I see a sexy female super heroine I drool over her. I wouldn’t mind seeing what she would look like without her costume on. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have their abilities to do the things like they do.

I know it sounds silly, but I think it would be fun to have their abilities and to live their life, instead of my own. You see my life isn’t the best in the world. My parents work all the time and never have time for me. They are more concern about their career then they are of me. Sometimes I wonder why they ever had me. Most of the time I think my parents would have been happier without having me around.
Some of the older kids at school tease me because of how smart and geeky I am. So, I spend a lot of time alone at home by myself. I lose myself in my drawing and writing my stories. Sometimes, I wonder how it would feel to be the opposite gender at times. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to be a girl, but it seems to me that girls have it a lot easier than boys do. Anyway, I love going to yard sales and thrift stores looking for back issues of comic books and such.

On the way home from school today I spotted a yard sale going on. They had a variety of neat stuff and so I thought I would look around and see what they had. My parents had just given me my allowance just the other day, so I had some money to spend. They had a lot of things that they were selling. Some of them were like antiques and such so; I didn’t find any comic books or games that I was hoping to find.

Instead I found an old necklace that I thought my mother would like. It was dull looking and had a large crystal clear diamond like item in the middle of it. I knew my mother loved old things like this, so I asked one of the people that were selling the stuff how much they wanted for it. They told me I could have it for five dollars. I dug in my pants pocket and handed them a crumble up five dollars bill I had on me. I knew my mother wasn’t going to be home when I got there, but just to be on the safe side. I slipped the necklace into my pants pocket.

I didn’t see my mother’s car when I got home, so I went ahead and headed to my bedroom and took the necklace out of my pants pocket and laid it on my desk and changed out of my school clothes and into some play clothes. I caught a flash of a bright light out of the corner of my eye and looked over towards where it came from, but the only thing I could see was the necklace I had brought for my mother. I walked over and picked the necklace up and examined it. It was a nice piece and would look even nicer once I cleaned it up. I took the cleaning kit out that my mother uses to clean her jewelry and started cleaning it. I had some practice using it, because she would let me help her sometimes. I was hoping I could get it looking nice for my mother.

I found out that once the necklace was cleaned, it was made of silver. It also had several more gems that were grimy, but shined when I cleaned them up. As I turned the huge gem over to examine the other side of it. I notice that there was some sort of weird writing inscribe on the back of the huge gemstone setting. I couldn’t make out what type of writing it was, but it wasn't English. That much I could tell. Some compulsion made me want to put the necklace on. I tried to resist the urge to wear it, but I couldn’t. Whatever was forcing me to wear the necklace was too strong for me. It had a slight glow to it as I slipped it around my neck. As soon as I closed the clasp of the necklace, I felt a strange energy go throughout my body. I could feel it as it penetrated every pore of my body. It felt as soft and warm as it went through my body, causing me to glow. The only thing I could do was just stand there as the strange energy course through my body.

“Choose!”

I close my eyes tightly and try to understand what I just heard.

“What do you mean choose? What am I choosing?” I felt that energy surrounding me swirl inside of my body.

“Choose that which you desire most!”

“Choose that which I desire most?” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. What was it that I desire the most?

I stood there and tried to think of what I desired the most.

Then out of the blue it hit me. I finally realized what the voice was asking me. It was going to grant my greatest wish. It was going to give me what I desire, but what was the cost for this? What was the voice getting out of this?

“What is the cost for granting my greatest desire?” I wanted to know what I was giving up, to have what it was giving me.

“You’re giving up your current life for a new one. Once the wish is granted, you’ll no longer be you. Your life as you know it, will cease to exist.”

The voice sounded female to me when it spoke.

“What If I don’t want to choose?”

“You have no choice. Once the necklace is placed around your neck you must make a choice. If you don’t choose, then I will change you into the last person that wore me.”

“Why must you change me? What is the reason behind that?” I wanted to know what I was dealing with.

I watched as a female spirit appeared before me. She was beautiful. You could feel the power she posse about her. She had long flowing black hair that fanned out behind her body. Her skin was as white as a porcelain doll and flawless. She was wearing a sheer white gown that silhouetted her body. She looked like one of the Greek goddess of legend. The ones you only read about and think aren’t real. She looks directly at me with her white glowing eyes.

“That necklace you wear is only meant for women. It was made to protect women that have been mistreated by males. As punishment, any man that wears that necklace or anything that is made from it is turned into a woman. That is the curse for which the creator of the necklace placed on it. Any man that has evil intention in his heart to hurt a woman is killed. Those that are pure of soul will be granted their greatest desire. Once the desire is granted, your life will change, for better or for worse, depending on what your desire is.”

I stand there and stare at the woman thinking about her words. Who would I want to be for the rest of my life? She already told me I’ll be changed into a woman.

“Is there a limit to what or who I can be?”

“Yes and No, your choice will determine if it will be granted and what conditions will be placed on it.”

“Fine, I have made my choice.” I look directly at her when I say this. Her glowing eyes don’t change at all.

“What price will I pay for what I want?”

“For the choice you have made, you’ll need to learn how to control the forces you are asking to use and the knowledge to know when to use them. Are you sure you want that? Magic can be a hard thing to learn and use properly. You’ll need to keep the public from finding out about your abilities. No one must know real magic exist. Once this is granted, there will be no changing your mind.”

“Yes, I’m willing to pay the price for my choice.” The choice I made was going to be a new adventure for me in more ways than one. The first way was because I was going to be a fourteen-year-old girl. The second way is because all those years watching my favorite witchy television shows and movies were going to pay off. I will have real magical abilities with a little semi-immortality thrown in as well.

“Very well, your choice has been made and you have been made aware of the conditions. When the change is over, you’ll awake somewhere, where you’ll get the training you’ll need in order to use your gifts. All existence of your past will be erased and everyone that knew you will forget about you.”

“Fine, I’m ready when you…” I didn’t get a chance to finish my statement, before the glow around me got as bright as the sun and every atom in my body busted apart and I lose all forms of feeling.

It was like my spirit was hovering nearby. I could even feel my spirit being reshaped along with my body. So that both were changed at the same time so that they both match if someone was to read my aura. I was totally conscious of the change being done to my body and spirit. It was like I could feel the world around me and the ley lines that surrounded the Earth. I felt the energy increase and then nothing at all.
Blackness surrounded me and then sleep.

I really hope this continues

Your wish has been granted

Chapter two will be up soon. I have to proof it and see if I need to make any changes to the original story concept.
