This blog entry contains several questions. I'd be pleased if any other readers or authors here were able to respond.
Have you ever stumbled across an author's work, and thought to yourself "this is really good, I'm going to read any material of theirs that I find"? You know, the sort of writing that you find you can't put down; that you find yourself still reading at 1am.
I had such an experience yesterday. Here on BC, I came across a treasure trove (IMHO) of work by Audrey Cooper. The stories were:
- PaulThe story of a brother who is not what his sister thought.
- Confused Ramblings of a GardenerA transsexual landscape gardener is hired by the lord of the manor.
- The Pencil never liesAn art student has a vision whilst sketching her boy friend.
I was also able to find these stories on FictionMania, along with another work of two parts entitled "How Did I Get Into This" which is the story of a man changed into a woman by a transsexual professor. On FM part two of this latter story is marked as completebut at the end we find the familiar phrase "To be continued..."
Does anyone know whether Audrey ever completed "How Did I Get Into This"? Are there any more of her writings that I could read?

One of the best uses of the blogging I've seen.
Pointing out an author who you consider worthwhile, that is.
I like it, because like everyone else, I find the best stories
through other's comments. I'm grateful and impressed, PS.
As an author, I appreciate the synergy as well. When someone
comments on a story, or when I post a new one (every third blue
Moon or so...), I too see a jump in hits/comments/votes. It's
nice, because it is such a huge encouragement to someone who
writes. I'm amazed that more folks don't try to encourage the
authors whose writing they admire in this way. It's the surest
method I know of generating even more good stories - just the
way you like 'em.
Thus, the comment on a comment!

...for pointing out Audrey's stories. I missed them the first time around (looks as though two of them came out while my computer was inoperable) and definitely found them enjoyable and worth reading now.

Well, I'm blushing with these kind words!
I only saw this blog entry and comments because PS directed me to it in a comment on the short story I have just published.
What happened to 'How did I get into this'?
I wrote the two parts on FM when I was recovering from spinal surgery and there was a lot of anger in there. A lot of it was dictated to the computer whilst lying on my back, with my 10 minutes allowed sitting time per hour used for putting it into English.
I had ideas for a final third part, but was completely demoralised by the lack of response to part 2 - the first comment was a year after publication. This together with a comment via a chat room from someone I respect, caused me to change direction to the more romantic stories published here.
Sorry, there won't be a concluding episode of that story, but the maid wasn't as inocent as she appeared!
I have started several other pieces, but they haven't come to anything.... yet. Decisions was a spur of the moment thought - a true story, if you will - that just had to be commited to Top Shelf.

Previously, Erin has talked about the value of unfinished stories. I won't say I'm not disappointed, but I do understand, and I really appreciate your sharing about this work.
